no offense to our server, but you end up spending the entire week just building and farming while there's almost no PVP. the thing about servers like rustafied is that there is a large population who roam regularly so you actually find people to shoot outside of bases

I was wondering if anyone was interested in starting up a compound on an official server after a wipe. Rather than us shooting eachother, we can all group up and take a world together as a huge zerg. It honestly sounds fun raiding with 20+ people, or chilling in a huge base that we all work on and sleep in together. We don't even have to be on at the same time: visiting the sG headquarters on an official whenever we're in the mood sounds dope AF. Mabey you're in the mood for official but don't want to start up solo -- our base would be the perfect home for anyone in this situation, which I personally have had in the past. Some players on our servers prefer to hop in, build for a few, then hop off; others like to constantly farm and raid. An sG base on an official server would work great for both playstyles. I know some people who play on our server are also playing on official on the side -- I think it'd be awesome if everyone instead banded together and ruled a server.
 
The one and only downside to this might be a small loss of playtime on our server, but like above, some people are already spending time on two servers so it might not even be a loss at all. Even if you don't have the time: I've seen plenty of people chill on our server until other groupmates pm that it's raid time on an official server -- a call to arms system like that should let you play on both servers just fine since being on for raiding time or defending a base from rockets are where the major fun of Rust is at. It also means people don't have to choose between playing the two servers and can just hop on the official server whenever something's going on. Rustafied (major official server host) has monthly wipe cycles as opposed to our weekly ones -- that's plenty of time to play on our server as well as an official one imo.
 
We've all been shooting at eachother for weeks now and there's been a lot of grudges growing between our own community members and friends. Others have 20+ friends shared on the map but aren't technically "teamed" with them (since we don't want 30 man clans on our 50 pop server). With everyone suddenly on the same side and our small world invading an official's, we can definitely mend some bridges and have a damn lot of fun while doing so. Leave a message below w/ your thoughts or if you're interested so we can get some beds going if we do decide to have a base on a server.
 
EDIT: We're likely going to start up the sG village base next official wipe, which will be February 2nd (Thurs). The server is still being decided on -- if you'd like to recommend one then please post below.

Personally, I don't mind if people do this. I think that if you are willing to spend the money just to win the round, you should be free to do so. I believe forcing you to change race is enough added cost to pull this off. Changing race can really throw off team dynamic that may or may not exist and end up not being worth the race change. I want to make it clear that being able to purchase an extra respawn on races that have an ability to self-respawn doesn't make it inherantly powerful. Just because they already have the ability to respawn is enough of a reason to restrict the purchase of it in the first place. Also i want to convey that the idea behind this is not as cut-and-dry to be applied to all items. 

But they aren't evading a slay, they will still sit out a round regardless..

The slay being given is punishment for breaking a rule, after they receive that punishment there shouldn't be anymore. They lose the time for that round whether they are in the server, leave or are slain. Keeping them there or otherwise banning them, is as Rune said, a power trip really. It's to show them that there are consequences, however as was already stated, the server isn't all children. Regardless, I get the fact that there are times when the ban is warranted to it's fullest extent, no matter when the player leaves. However it should be your job as an SO to decide whether they were leaving due to malicious intent or simply had something come up. "tough for them" is a horrible way for an admin to think, indiscriminately handing out bans because of a rule that as Avenger stated isn't even set in stone. 
 
 
 
If you are going into a discussion with someone with the intent of simply changing their mind, and not even considering their side of the argument then you were indeed wasting your time. As you are the fool, not them. Don't always assume you and your way of thinking is right, especially in a position of power.

And as I've stated before, I don't know why you care. They took the slay, they're already going to miss the round. Whether they leave the server is only relevant to the punishment because our administration has this notion that they should wait to leave. In my opinion, like the many other opinions that I have against this, it shouldn't matter because the slay was already given and that was their punishment. Whether they re-enter the server afterwards doesn't matter because they have already missed the round. I understand your feelings in the matter, I've read your feelings in the matter; unfortunately, as I've said before it is only an opinion in the matter based on the punishment. It could easily be changed and the outcome would still be the same. Thus why it is an opinion, and why my opinion won't be changed.

To clear things up, banning people for not staying the entire round they're slain has always been optional  (according to zach).  Personally, I don't think its something we should be doing.

Get an 80 plus platinum PSU that provide what you need (eg don't buy a 1000W PSU when you need 500W. You want your PSU to operate at around 80% of its max. do you want modular? do you need single or dual 12V rails? pick a CPU  Understand what you're getting, if you dont know the difference between an i7, an i5, and an i3, why are you picking one? understand what hyperthreading is and whether you need it or not (you probably dont need it and if you have it you should disable it) understand which CPUs are unlocked and which are not AND why that matters or doesn't Pick a motherboard that has enough PCIe slots for you enough USB version X slots for you M.2? verify it's the proper M.2 slot for you (not all M.2 slots support a disk) enough memory to satisfy your requirements check if the chipset prefers dual or quad channel memory if not using an external sound card verify it meets your needs ENSURE THE BOARD HAS THE PROPER SOCKET FOR THE CPU IN STEP 2 KNOW WHAT KIND OF MEMORY THE BOARD REQURIES Buy memory that has good ratings Check timings, especially if you plan to OC check voltage, especially if you plan to OC check speed, especially if you plan to OC Pick a CPU cooler the included one is fine (with the included paste) for normal operation if you plan to OC, get some good thermal paste (i've always liked artic silver (i think it's up to 5 now??)) open loop water cooling vs closed loop water cooling vs air vs heat pipes vs thermoelectric, liquit nitrogen, healium, immersion, etc pick a graphics card  Ensure your monitors will plug into it, do you really want to introduce a single point of failure by using an adapter? Ensure it can plays the games you wanna play future use? cooling? do you need it to support liquid cooling? memory, how much do you need, why? power requirements? SLI/crossfire requirements disks Are you going to use a SATA HDD? SATA SSD? NVMe SSD?  the fastest NVMe SSD is 4-6x faster than the fastest SATA SSD which is 4-5x faster than the fastest SATA HDD do you want RAID? software raid is bad, don't waste your time, if you want raid (raid0 isn't real raid) buy a raid controller if you want NVMe do you have enough PCIe lanes to support full speed, if not are you OK with that? case <-- this is where you save money, not anything above here, ESPECIALLY NOT THE PSU ensure it's the appropriate size, too big of a case is bad for air circulation ensure you pull air in before you push air out use physics... convection already occurs, support it sound, support for radiators, proper size compatibility for your components (motherboard, length of video card, etc) peripherals <--this is also where you save money because a mouse is a mouse and a keyboard is a keyboard. you can always buy something better later.

Post your budget Post your list of components that you already have access to (ie. from your old system, such as keyboard, mouse, monitor) Post what games you plan to play or if you plan to do 3D shit Post what is important to you in those games, such as 144fps at ultra, or instant loading of levels, etc. do your research using the first set of points.

Why don't we just limit every race to 1 so when all starter races are taken, newcomers are forced to play no race.

You must not be a true professional gamer. If you where on that level you would have low latency headphones. It isn't just the headphones but the sound card. Less processing time and a short headphone cable means the footstep gets to your ears faster so that you can use that sound to perfectly time your jumps. This is why you are not good at bhopping and have to accuse those way beyond your skill level of cheating. If you where to get better hardware and practice more you might be able to get close to that level and would start to understand. This stuff is trivial.
