Don't get me wrong, they're definitely strong races, but so is half the other races. If they get nerfed, its only gonna be X time before you guys start complaining about the next one to nerf

Any form of suicide (including changing teams) the first round is now logged. If you attempt to progress the round number in order to get additional cash, spawn with guns faster, etc. you will be banned for abusing the system.

Dark Templar now consistently blocks only 1 bullet with his shield (instead of sometimes blocking 2, dependent on how fast your gun fired) - however he has gained 15% passive speed.

Fixed some Clutch Chat bugs, also I log a lot more stuff that will benefit us in debugging crash problems.

Adjusted Paradox skill descriptions to be more correct.

Do you not read anything I say at all? ^^^^^

I agree the race needed a buff and the buff for it is all fine and dandy, but it's now a strong enough race that it shouldn't have a 2 per team limit. There a lot of other races with a limit of one per team regardless of counters to it. I think it should be 1 per team, that's it. It doesn't need nerfed, just a stricter limit.

I would like to point out that a lot of the races you can play on CT side give CT a distinct advantage because of the mod. There are plenty of times where people on CT will change to ESP races and just camp outside the warehouse AWPing in and killing the T's and turning the map into a "fish in a barrell" situation that makes people not want to play T side. Ct's can also peek through the windows on roof and pick off T's who are tring to hide in cover and that can cause people on the T side to have to set up "deeper" in the warehouse leaving the entries way more open for CT's to rush in.

BECAUSE of this mod I think it gives the CT's way more opportunities to get into the warehouse or kill the T's without having to worry about getting camped while rushing in.

Is this something we can just open up to a vote for a week or something to see how the majority of people on the server feel about it?

I think this is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist in the eyes of the player base. The rule was a major point of discussion and I believe the opinion was unanimous that the rule was unnecessary. No one felt that pushing the Ts was unnecessarily difficult as a result of the confines of the vent.

If the map is so much of an issue due to the T-sideness, why not find a mapper to modify it or remove the map altogether rather than set a rule the community doesn't find reason in? This doesn't seem like the right approach for the problem you are looking to solve.

Serif The Sheriff reacted to Face in Blademasters Ult
    Rare double post!

See the following chart, the black line is "old" and the orange lines are "new" damage. The lighter, faded orange is farther away from the blademaster (200 units or ~66% of the uts range) and the darker orange is the theoretical maximum (if you were standing literally inside of the blademaster's player model - it will never hit for this much damage).
What you will notice is that at 100 unit distance (which is pretty close), you have not surpassed the "old damage" until 13 hits. That means if you are close as fuck to the blademaster, it takes 13 hits before the damage is better than it used to be. At 200 units, if you stand in the ult the entire time you will only take 89 damage (nearly 50% less than the old ultimate damage).

This rewards players who are a) aware and keep their distance and/or b) aim well and slow the BM down with bullet-tagging CSGO mechanics

    \

edit: adjusted the dmg so it's linear after 10, apparently it hits 45 times and not 25 times like I had assumed (lol) so my calculations were BONKERS M8. I updated the numbers above to reflect the update.

In summary: nobody played blademaster seriously since it was nerfed 1.5 years ago (calling @HornyCat) so y'all need to deal with it. If the ult gets nerfed any more other shit will just get buffed then it'll be like every other flavorless knife race. At least right now it's different.

Serif The Sheriff reacted to Rayne in Blademasters Ult
The general slow you get from being shot, which as you say is part of cs:go, is not nearly enough slow to make a difference to the BM ult range. Considering that while you're being hit by said ult, you are receiving the exact same slow mentioned above... meaning neither of you are able to get any further away from each other. Unless you have a speed increase, or LJ, but again, this get's destroyed due to being hit by said ult.

The face that, as Face said, the last 5 shots alone are enough to do 115 damage, this race annihilates almost everyone hit by it unless you're already a fair distance away when you start shooting.

The only reason this hasn't been nerfed yet, is because not enough people play it to directly affect the statistics that Face uses to deem a race worthy of a nerf/buff.

@Face if nothing else, at least amend the damage done by the ultimate... no ultimate should be enough to kill somebody with one click.

So last I knew Blademasters Ult dealt magic damage, and playing Angel of Light was a counter, or playing a race and buying Prismatic Signet was a counter because it would reduce the damage enough to survive the ult. Today playing Unholy Paladin with almost a full server, my 90% magic damage resist couldn't even begin to save me from a Blademaster ult. Did it's damage type get changed? Or did the recent change to the ult make it that much stronger?

Serif The Sheriff got a reaction from Leeroy in War3 Expertise/Buff/Nerf Essay Submission
The Elven Gods are gone. They have not been seen in ages and most elven kind has accepted that they no longer exist, and may have never existed in the first place. One elf, Serif of Lythoran, has dedicated his entire existence to proving they are still out there, and still hold the power of old. His search has led him to this worlds capital, Heralith, where he believes he will find one of his Gods, and it is here that our story begins.
Serif arrives at the massive city in awe of its expanse and taken back by the variety of species that have claimed it as home. As he makes his way to the nearest inn he sees an orcish guild with a large GS engraved atop their gate, underneath the gate is a larger orc ranting on about the tyranny of Heraliths council. As Serif walks by the orc grabs him by the shoulder, "Leave now before you lose your soul! Don't let the council corrupt you!" spits the orc. Ignoring the orcs ranting Serif continues on to the inn and rents a room so he can unpack his maps and scrolls in order to further study them before heading to the cities scribe.
Hours later Serif arrives at the library with his maps where he finds Scribe Coolness who he believes can help lead him to an old elven shrine near the city. Walking through the library Serif hears several orcs, humans, elves, and undead talking about these shrines scattered around the city, but only the orcs and undead seem to know for sure where there shrines are. Scribe Coolness approaches Serif, "Ah, a young elf, no doubt seeking a shrine?" questioned the scribe.
"As a matter of fact yes, I have traveled far and was told you would know where a shrine to the old gods is still intact."
"I know of such a place, but you should be warned, no elf has been brave enough to attempt to reach this place. The journey will be perilous and you will face many a foe," the scribes face became very serious.
"I am not afraid, the Gods have called on me as their chosen one to rise up and lead the elves back to them," stated Serif.
"Hah, you think the Gods have chosen you? Very well then, if you truly believe then you must travel to the Great Tree, it is the old capital of the Elven Kingdom. There you will find a shrine at the top of the tree and if the Gods truly exist, you will receive a great power."
Serif quickly ran back to the inn and packed up his things, and as he came running out of the inn he ran smack dab into the large protesting orc. "Where ya going in such a hurry man," questioned the orc.
"I am going to the Great Tree so that I may receive a great power from the Gods and lead my people."
"The road there is dangerous and you're going to need some help. I shall come with you and help you on this journey. You may call me Ghoul," bellowed the orc.
So together Serif and Ghoul set off for the Great Tree in search of this fabled power. Over the next two months the pair would deal with many trials and hardships. They fought scores of undead, slew hundreds of humans, defeated a tribe of elementals, battled through the legendary crypt lords and more. Finally they had found it, the Great Tree loomed above them, Serif was so excited he couldn't contain it and giddy as a small girl he sprinted to the tree and up it's winding stairs. Reaching the top covered in dirt and spiderwebs Serif had finally done it, he found the last shrine of the Elven Gods.
All over the shrine were sets of armor worn by the gods greatest warriors, racks of their spears and swords scattered everywhere covered in dust and cobwebs. In the middle of the room shone a single ray of light upon an altar, as Serif approached it he did not hear the faint hum he had read about in his scrolls. Nothing was happening, Serif slammed his fists against the altar and cried out to the gods, "Gods of old it is I, Serif of Lythoran, your chosen one! I have found your shrine, I am hear to claim your power," shouted the young elf. Only silence followed and as day turned to night he prayed and performed ritual after ritual while his companion Ghoul watched with a heavy heart.
A day passed and Serif had heard nothing from the Gods, he had no new great power, no visions, no signs, no clue what to do next. As he left the altar he knocked over a weapon rack and sitting amongst the rusted weaponry there was something still shining. It was an old spear with Ethbakil engraved on the shaft, it was the spear wielded by Protectorate Swilthen, an elf famed for upholding the Gods and their powers as elven kind first began to reject them. A smile crept over Serifs face, he may not have found his great power yet, but he had a godly weapon he knew was left to him as a sign of good faith from the Gods.
Serif and Ghoul began their journey back to Heralith, again fighting against many more foes. They fought threw Cannibals, Golden-tails, Defilers, the Masters of War, Go, and Three, but no foe could withstand the might of the large orc and the elf with his new weapon. However, as they saw Heralith in the distance there was smoke rising and they could hear deathly screams and cries for help.
The pair ran to the city as fast as they could, as they got closer something came up behind them with blinding speed and snagged Ethbakill away from Serif before throwing it away. Serif shot roots from the ground and managed to catch this creature as he and Ghoul dispatched it. This creature was something Serif had never seen before, but Ghoul recognized it as one of the gnats. Serif picked up his spear and as they entered the city there were gnats everywhere, terrorizing the city and setting it ablaze.
The battle of the gnats lasted for weeks before the warriors within Heralith were able to purge them and force a retreat. While the city recuperated from the event Serif found Scribe Coolness, "I found the shrine, but no such power awaited me. Surely there must be something else you have found in your studies," demanded Serif.
"There is another place, but it would take two of your lifetimes to reach it."
"It matters not, I will find it and I will do whatever it takes to do so," stated Serif.
"Give me three days to study my maps again and I shall see if I can find anything else."
Serif left the scribe to his studies and three days later returned. The scribe had found another shrine that was reachable, but it would be a long and hard journey. Serif packed his things and departed anyways, knowing he would reach the shrine and finally receive his power from the Gods. Along his journey the elf grew ever closer to the shrine, but as he got close he had a run in with the Heralith council and went into exile. During his exile Serif found another land, but that is a story for another time.
After a year of exile Serif returned to find that another elf called Raina had picked up where he left off searching for the Elven Gods. This elf had managed to get further than he had but still was unsuccessful so Serif pledged to continue his quest and not let anything stop him until he found what he was looking for. He want to see his old scribe friend only to learn that Scribe Coolness had long since gone. However, before his departure, the scribe had found something, the thorn of the Elven God Thornatox fashioned into a blade. With the blade in hand Serif began preparations for his journey, but something was amiss.
Serif found the orc Ghoul and asked for his help like the old times, but Ghoul had pledged his services to another, as had most others in the city. An elf by the name of Star, though he sometimes went by Carmi, had risen up and wanted to claim the Gods power for himself. But Serif knew Carmi was only doing it because he had heard the tales from other night elves and just wanted to have power.
Star left the city with support from many of its inhabitants and the supplies to get him farther much quicker than Serif and Raina had. So Serif set off hastily with Ethbakill and Thorn in hand, determined to beat Star to the shrine so he could fulfill his duty to the Gods. The two elves have now become rivals, and both race to find the shrine and achieve power. Star with the help and support of his people, Serif with only the strength of his Gods, who knows who will reach the shrine first. Some say Raina is still out there somewhere, still trying to find his way, but no matter what happens, one of these three elves will claim the favor of the Gods for good or for evil. That story is still unfolding though...

Master of War can no longer buy wish.

Added a plugin that restarts the server nightly.

sm_sethealth is limited to setting a players health at 1000. This is to prevent abuse.

I went through the war3bug file finally (After about 2 months) and addressed a lot of the stuff in it. A few items are still unaddressed and can be found on the bug tracker: http://www.joinsg.net/bugs/warcraft-3/

    SATURDAY BUGFIX BONANZA

    General Server Stuff
AFKChecker now checks if you are the last alive before sending you to spectator. If you are, you suicide.
Fixed a bug where Weapon Sling could allow races that drop weapons on spawn (knife races, etc.) to keep their guns when they shouldn't.
You can no longer defuse the bomb while flying.
HPRegen now automatically resets the timer if your HP Regen value is over a certain number. It's hard to explain the logic of how/why it works the way it does, but basically this should mean if you get a huge spike in regen (e.g. Gargoyle stoneform) it immediately starts regening at insane speeds.

    Race Stuff
Abaddon's ult description now properly reflects the fact that he absorbs all damage instead of magic. It was supposed to be just physical damage, but honestly it's been underplayed so yolo I left it absorbing all.
Altana now get's the appropriate amount of ammo.
Archimonde hidden strike now prints the appropriate amount of bonus damage dealt (minor bug)
Banshee ultimate now checks for ult immunity
BladeMaster healing when he takes dmg during his ult is no longer blocked by healing block (e.g. Jaraxxus etc.)
Exalted Sorcerer Boots of Unyielding now only stop bash, slow, and knockback instead of all effects (entangle, etc). This is not only more efficient than the alternative, but it will work cleaner (instead of getting bashed and quickly unbashed, you won't be able to get bashed at all).
Hand of God now handles it's evade substantially more efficiently. It also checks for all weapons properly. I increased the radius of the target check on the Forward Slash so that it will be more likely you hit players. I also set it so that if the TP is invalid (e.g. you teleport into the ground/wall) then it does not deal damage when it teleports you back. This is to stop confusion ("I hit the guy but it still teleported me back!"). Hand of God's ultimate should always kill the player now.
Holy Paladin fixed a bug on the ult where it checked if the holy paladin was able to be respawned instead of the player it was attempting to respawn. This probably caused some weird interactions sometimes. This is why !respawn_none would stop you from respawning other players.
Magneto now checks for ultimate immunity
Master of GO now properly adds/removes speed from teammates
Nithhogr no longer catches players on fire when they hit him with magic damage
Paradox properly spawns with a glock/knife
RPG Race no longer says it slowed you if you are immune to the slow
Teron'gor Doom should now always reset on spawn. This will fix it carrying over on maps as well.
Wizard of New Tristram now handles it's Firebird's Finery quite a bit differently. The damage is quite a bit higher and dealt more quickly. It also triggers almost instantly. Overall it is better, but it triggers so rarely and you deserve to get the kill when it does.

Serif The Sheriff got a reaction from Cman in Tyrande and Blade Master ults
Well I am all good with the ult going through ult immunity now because now I see why it needs to be that way, but I think the buff on the ult was a little much. Making it immune to slows and freezes is all fine and dandy, but it also being immune to every other spell is kind of strong imo. For example, if a Blademaster comes up to me while I am on Naix, I used to be able to leech enough to give myself a chance while sitting in it's ult and sometimes have enough to kill one when the ult would end (not always though), but now I can't leech at all due to it's 100% spell immunity so if I get caught in a BM's ult as a Naix I am dead no matter what. Same goes for most other races that rely on life steal, extra damage, slows, or bashes to combat races like that. Not only that but if I entangle a Blademaster as NE and then instantly turn and run when he uses his ult, he still has enough time left on his ult to catch up to me and almost deal enough damage to kill me despite being rooted for 2.5 seconds and me tucking tail right away.

But same as with the ult going through ult immunity, if someone can make a reasonable argument for the 100% spell immunity on the race then go for it, I am all ears

Don't think of it as a permanent item think of it as a 7,000 dollar heal. On strong races that can't heal or regen it's a very good use of 7,000.

There is no word requirement (quality > quantity), but I would suggest maybe around 3000 words Try to format it decently (I know we are on forums so that can be harder) Try to be as grammatically correct as possible (the better/funnier the essay is, the less emphasis I will place on grammar) Feel free to mention other players, within reason (don't be too offensive or harassing) Follow all relevant sG rules Don't be too simple or too obvious. e.g. A story about an orc fighting the oppression of Nazi Germany (sG). It's too obvious unless you put some big spin on it. Try to be original and not steal ideas from others Feel free to post the story here or to use another site (pastebin, etc). Low effort posts will be removed/infracted. I will place a lot of emphasis on the first couple hundred words of the essay. If I am bored or I think I know exactly where it is going immediately, I will not waste my time finishing it.

Beyond the first couple hundred words, I will place all the emphasis on originality and humor.

I will probably stop this after New Years.
