It more than likely has to do with the fact that CS:GO has a way higher population in total, from people liking the game more, and because we have more of those servers.
While having a GMod event would be very fun, I feel not many people would actually try and participate to get said prizes.

It got to the point where literally only 3 people competed for the top 3 prizes if I recall correctly.
It was fun for them, but nobody else really gave a damn at the time.

Gerald use to set up some, but due to not a lot of people participating in them, he thinks it's a waste of money to pay for all these prizes, and not have a lot of people participate in the Event.
I'd love to have another GMod event, heck, I would even help set it up. But for now, it doesn't look like we'll get one anytime soon.

You guys need to understand some other "clans" have very lax policies. Such as... playing on server, joining the steam community group, having a forum account. Don't be so harsh on people. You probably didn't know it was a thing because you've been here around 20 days buddy. 

The amount of times I've tried, literally hounding EVERYONE (you included) to join the server...nobody joins and nobody cares.
 
The population didn't die purely because of DDOS, it's the fact that we can't play all of our fun maps that are larger than the DL bracket and the constant crashes. We need something to be done about all of the maps that are no longer available to play and figure out why the server keeps crashing.
 
I can't for the life of me understand why the server hasn't been taken apart and fixed from scratch with a bit of care, I understand people are busy and there are other things to do...but that server has gone from top 10 to almost 2000 in 9 months and nobody who can do anything about it seems to give a shit.

I don't have ideas. I just shit on them.

Yeah logs are done all through mysql, so unless the database goes down it shouldn't. 
 
Also the RDM manager has been updated and it fixes most of the problems people have with it.
