Community, Lets start here, you guys probably saw the ping tests to OVH and heard some rumors. We'll settle that first. OVH failed to meet their obligation to us and we have cancelled service and requested our money back. Basically most things they advertised were false and they caused a multitude of other issues. We have made the decision to proceed with End of Reality gaming and are working with the company now. I have completed the negotiations and i think we did rather well on the deal.
Here are the specs of the server and I will post the current server for comparison.
NEW SERVER:CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1280-V3MEM: 32G DDR 1600SSD" Samsung 740 512GHDD: 1x 1TB 7200 RPMLGA 1155 Intel C202 Mobo2x 1Gbps uplink2x /29 subnet10TB Bandwidth1Gbps DDoS protection You can clearly see the improvement in every category. Lets discuss CPU. our current CPU for single threaded applications (like css/csgo/gmod) ranks 2065. the new cpu ranks 2317 and is the best cpu for single threaded apps there is. Of note is that the cpu we are getting is NOT a "stocked" cpu, they are special ordering it for us. They, so far, have seemed very willing to special order anything we want if we are accepting of the lead time and contractual obligation to do so.
The Second NIC link is actually 50/mo but i negotiated to get this free. We also got a pretty big discount after quite a few emails. Their responsiveness has been amazing thus far.
Something we have all feared is moving to new hardware and IPs changing. Well, that doesnt technically change here. If you purchase a box, there is a /29 assigned to it for tracking purposes. If you move to a new box it's a new /29. However, if we purchase a second /29 it CAN move with us. So if we break this down, lets say the first /29 is used for things that rely on dns, like bgpanel, the website, teamspeak, minecraft and a couple other things internal to staff, then the IP change wont matter, we just update dns. for the css/csgo servers where we use ip, the floater /29 would be used and can follow us to new hardware if we upgrade.
All sounds amazing right? well there is a downside.
the 1Gbps DDoS protection is 1Gbps MORE than we currently have, but will not be enough for the attacks we have seen against ZE/JB. That being the case, after we exceed the 1Gbps point, we will still be null routed. The good note is where limestone nulls us for up to 24 hours (i dont think it's been higher than this???) the MAX we can be nulled with the new host is 8 hours. The DDoS protection will cover approximately almost all of the small attacks we receive. There is no host we can afford that can take the DDoS attacks ZE/JB have experienced.
As you all know the large DDoS attacks are the primary reason we are leaving limestone. They basically told us we weren't going to be renewed because of the attacks. I have in writing from the new host that being attacked does NOT violate TOS and we will NOT be cancelled for it ever. They will null us when needed but that is all.
So, bottom line, EVERYTHING is better, there is not one single aspect of this new host that is a loss for us. The fundraiser was for a new cpu and we got it and much more. have we fixed the DDoS attacks? no. We can only address our security concerns internally and filter where possible, but if someone hits us for 10Gbps again, we will be nulled for 8 hours.
Their network is setup so that your closest ingress point to their network will be how you come in, then you ride their internal MPLS to reach our server. This SHOULD mean lower latency and less hops for any user farther away from the datacenter. Here are the pint test IP addresses.

We are impressed by this host and have a good feeling, but like any responsible person, we will be testing them for a period of time before we commit to them. This is to ensure that we are able to provide the community outstanding service and ensure that donation money is well spent. thank you for reading and being members of our community.
Oh god. Anyway this guy was bragging about his video in a reddit thread when it was blatantly obvious he was using visuals and a triggerbot. So then I just found his post on chods cheats that he posted the same video on and screenshotted everything.
I totally remember you. We started on the servers and forums around the same time almost four years ago. Every now and then I've wondered how you've been.
I'm sorry you've had a rough few years, but it's great to see you around!
My names Adam, I was on the servers as a jailbreak admin, to what I can remember, about three years ago. I've recently, gotten back into games & bumped into "Shadow" a few days ago, he asked me to come by and say hi again.
I have no idea how big sG has gotten, I don't know how. But wow, I am amazed at the effort and time you guys have put into the server since I was gone.
In short, to those who know me/remember me ;
I left about three years ago after my fiance at the time left me, I went into 4RAR infantry unit with the Australian army, and within a few days was sent out to Afghanistan, having a few ups and downs and life changing moments, I was sent back with a half functional leg. Upon returning, I found out the kid I was expected, would be a big issue in my life, whilst injured.
I promised to come back, however I never did based on the fact that I had to cope with supporting the baby(Cynthia) and supporting my leg, plus trying to work for money to live somewhere. After a year and a half, I was back to doing things normally. I got sent back out in 2012, and came home in early 2013, with no injuries, but once again, things happened that changed me for the worst. Mid 2013 - 2014 I was suffering heavily from Post traumatic stress, which meant I could not work & I could not support Cynthia, who is all grown up now !.
However, recently my meds have come back to a lower dosage, and I'm hitting the final stretch. I think I could give sG another go, or at least the Jailbreak again. But, no promises, at the moment my life is up and down, at any moment in time I could have a "Episode" and head back down hill.
But anyways, even though this is introductions, If I don't make it back, I want to congratulate sG for the massive improvement in the last 3 years to their Community, Forums and servers. And I wish you all the best.
bomb threat days in my hs were awesome
every trash can was full of weed. i would fill up my backpack and walk home
edit: who the fuck makes a bomb threat after lunch? what a waste of potential time off
