Has science gone too far?

Recommended Posts

How many times have I asked people not to change to those maps... It can freeze the server which makes it unplayable till you get a staff to restart it.

They aren't going to magically get fixed. The easiest way to MAYBE solve the problem that I know of requires too much time and effort from the community to ever be accomplished because we basically need to turn off XP gain (to prevent abuse) and systematically start/stop plugins and restart until we figure it out. There's no way to even do this with most of the engine plugins (they are interdependent), and I'm somewhat convinced the issue is in one if those. The problem is, "dust" isn't mentioned anywhere in the code so I don't think it is anything unique to the map. Whatever it is, it isn't a simple fix or believe me Skitt would've fixed it ages ago.

Did we not used to have a test server for stuff like this?

Surely there's enough room on the box to have a direct replica of the War3 server, allowing you to trial and error the above, and fix the issue?

I believe I'm only 40% dense, the other 60% is made up primarily of water.

Apologies for asking a question though sir.

The problem with the dev server is it doesn't seem to crash on dust, or it takes 10x as long to. I regularly test on dust with bots for hours and it won't crash. Live makes it take 15 mins or less before a crash normally.

incoming de_dust2_sgfix

Kinda hard to fix anything when there's no idea what's causing it... And I don't see much point in fixing the default maps...
