Quality Control

I was thinking of a way to stop "circlejerking" votes and I thought of this.

In order to vote on an application, your post must:

  • Have at least 150 words
  • Have at least 2 separate reasons why an applicant should/should not get in
    • i.e both reasons can't relate to each other
  • Be noticeably different from other posts

Instead of getting 50/50 to pass, get 30/30.

It's not hard to think of 150 words and 2 solid reasons to pass/fail an application.

Thoughts?

If you want people not to vote, just follow these instructions.

People definitely wont vote if they have to type up an essay for each person, i don't see this type of voting happening... :/

I have looked at some of the application's after reading this post. I think it would be better if people had a valid reason on why they voted yes or no to the applicant, rather than just saying something along the lines of "I don't like you." and then just voting no. Now I don't think that they need to type 150 words about the person, hell that is like a paragraph and a halves worth.

Example:

Quote

You tend to be harsh on people that don't do something your way, and you make a lot of excuses for situations that you have caused. I feel like you are a fun person to play with at times, but I would like to see you improve towards others consistently.

Also, the idea that you stated that they shouldn't give statements similar to other users, is good, but at the same time, people have the same opinion as each other. Now that doesn't mean that they should copy and paste the persons reason for their vote, but if the voter has the same influence on their vote as another person does, they should state it. Enough of the same topics that voters bring up to help improve the applicant, may actually work.

I also like the idea of the two reason's on why they should or shouldn't get in, this can mix up the opinions of the voters towards to applicant's actions in-game, rather than just having the same statements over and over again.

ok guys, here's how voting will be

  • only l3 and above can vote because l1 and l2 can't be trusted
  • you must have been active in the last 120 days
  • you must have at least 1000 reputation (positive)
  • you must have donated at least 20$ (subs do not count)
  • vote value will be based on how much you've donated
    • 20-50 - 1 point
    • 50-100 = 2 points
    • 100+ = 3 points
  • You can't have active warning points
  • you can't have nau or junzou on your steam friends list.

Well, there is poor grammar and then there's what you wrote... I don't even understand what you were attempting to convey.

Protip: sounding like a dumbass is never "cool." Write properly all the time and reap the benefits of not being seen as a moron.

I thought it was pretty clear but I was not trying to look cool, tried to be funny but sometimes I got bad taste of humor (mostly when I'm bored) and I'm guessing the "does are" confused you a little, thanks for the advice though. I will make sure to use the best grammar possible (for me).
