Pc parts (need help)

Recommended Posts

So i have an syx pc i bought, however the pc is no longer able to be bought online. I was wondering if anyone has a computer that overheats and knows a way to fix it with a cheap and easy way?
The limit i am willing to spend is around $60-$100.  Thank you for your time!

Do you have any idea what is over heating? The most typical (in my experience) over heating has been CPUs, which could be as simple as re-applying thermal paste. Your CPU cooler could also be dying, in which case you could spend as little as $20, or at the top end of your budget, an AOI liquid cooler.

I believe if it's your GPU that's over heating, it shouldn't be shutting off your computer, rather it would just die on you and you wouldn't get a display.

Why it shuts down. My screen becomes blue and say the temp. is way to high and turns off.

reapply the thermal paste, buy an after market cooler, and dust your parts off

Here are a few things I would recommend.

1. Take a can of compressed air to your  CPU fan and any intake/exhaust fans. Make sure you clean out ALL the dust in the heatsink.

2. Make sure that you have your CPU fan plugged into the motherboard, my friend had his connector fall out and had overheating problems.

3. If the last two steps rendered useless try to remove the CPU fan and gently wipe away the thermal compound on both the heatsink and the CPU with a microfiber cloth and 90%+ Isopropyl Alcohol. After this step replace your thermal compound with a new application, roughly the size of a pea. (I'll have links below for these products in case you don't have these laying around.)

4. If all else has failed chances are your CPU fan is faulty, I'll also post links of some closed loop water coolers and regular CPU fans I would recommend. You can find many YouTube videos on how to install various CPU coolers, if you still need help feel free to PM me at any time and I'll try to get back as soon as possible.
