As we spoke earlier, I know you're using a Mac. in addition to choosing "fast" or "fastest" Change these in-game settings as well:

 

Max Gibs: set to 0

High Quality Bloom: Off

Shadow Distance: Lowest setting

Shader level: Lowest setting

In that case, also turn off motion blur

Macs are not really up-gradable, so unless you just lower the settings, your SOL.
