What are some good headphones?

Apparently a good pair of headphones and modmic is the superior option to buying a gaming headset, but i have literally no idea what headphones to buy. Any recommendations that wont cost me an arm and a leg?

I would personally recomend the tutrle beach x12 they are pretty quality and they are still getting better mine have lasted for 2 years and i have thrown them like 10 times otherwise the hd 598s

Try and find Phillips SHP9500s, I like them better than the 598s.

 

They sound deeper and they are way more comfortable than the Sennheisers.

 

They go on sale pretty cheap usually and you don't need an amp, i'd say they are the best headphones quality wise which doesn't need an amp, using a modmic with mine and it's wonderful.

@Duex Also take into consideration you are using them for gaming. Most decent headphones can get uncomfortable after prolonged use. Maybe this is just me, but I've actually been considering switching to a decent pair of IEMs because of the heat created while wearing phones(I wear m50x's. had same issue with my DT990's).

HD 598 or 558 for life. Really comfortable, I wear them for 8+ hours a day. If you want to save some money you can buy the 558 instead. You can make the 558 sound exactly like the 598 by removing a piece 2 pieces of foam. That is the only difference between the 598 and 558.
