I wanna make a cool Minecraft custom server. Like, completely different from the vanilla game. Anyone got ideas?

I'm getting into coding, especially java, and It's always been a dream to make my own custom server in Minecraft.

 

The only thing is, I don't really have any ideas. I want the server to function as its own element, and not be reliant on other plugins (Of course, I can add other plugins, but I want the heavy lifting to be done by my own work). 

 

The problem with making my own setting, ideas, and server, is that they're normally already being done on other larger, well-established servers.

 

So I definitely want to make something that's new.

 

Any and all ideas help. Giving me the core concept of an idea is enough, really. I like expanding and digging into ideas like that.

 

Now, while all ideas help, here are some basic premises to steer clear from:

 

- An almost-default game setting, albeit one small addition (You only get half health or something)

 

- ANYTHING zombie related. Fuck that shit. It's been driven into the ground, pulled out of the ground, fucked in the ass, then thrown in the player's face.

 

- Minigames / Fragments of games. Servers like this are (really) fun, but, there's so many of them. Unless you think that the minigame can not only fill a whole server by itself, but that it could pull in enough money to host the box, try another idea. 

 

- Overused stuff. Hunger games. Zombies. You get it.

 

Again, any and all ideas help. 

 

Once I get an idea going, I'll be making a conversation in PM's about my additions and an overall "changelog" to the idea. If you want to be a part of this message chain and help me out, let me know.

Oh yeah, and I'll gladly make it a "sG" hosted server. But I'm hosting it on my own box. Sorry.

How about a capture the flag based mod? A game that isn't nearly payed enough. Remember it being amazingly fun in unreal tournament, there was also a highly underrated mod in cs:s for it too.

Idk if there are existent mods for this, but you could create a world kinda like pokemon where there are many different biomes where creatures reside and you can capture them. There would also be cities where people battle each other.

 

Another idea would be a mmo type server where there are different areas for each increment of levels with dungeons and bosses. PVP could be toggled at will.

 

Both of theses ideas would imply the inability to break blocks.

i think theres pixlemon -- But honestly there arnt many original idea's anymore.

I would love to see either something like zombies or the hunger games, I feel like these are really original ideas.

Zombie hunger games? You only live by feasting on the brains of humans? You get extra speed and can only

Melee people or other zombies? It's a survival of the fittest among the undead?

No idea how this could be implemented, but could have something like fort wars where you have 2 teams. You only get X amount of time to build your base and after that you cannot destroy blocks. You get a total of 3 TNT blocks to use and your base MUST have 2 entrances that are least 2x2 blocks. In the fort there can be a "flag" that you make blocks out of and the first to blow it up with a TNT wins, or the first to X kills wins.

 

Dont know if there is anything like it (actually being srs this time) I dont play minecraft much anymore.

There are a lot of pre built destroy the objective maps, but most servers that allow free building on the map are normally timed and regulated by human beings.

I could make a server mod for this, but making it 100% autonomous would be difficult.

I'll definitely add this to my list.

Make it like pokemon but with prostitutes, you have to battle pimps for money and you have to capture all the STDs from the different hookers around the world.

Or make a flying city RPG which late game allows you to go to the surface and it's fucked up by creepers n shit.

Hmm. RPG's are something I've considered, and that is a great premise.

 

I like the idea of a flying city. There could be a mechanic where you require certain upgrades/spells in order to get closer to the surface, because the air is more and more corrupted as you reach the surface.

 

The only problem is how you would do things as a player. If I make a flying city, users would only be able to run around and do menial quests, like "deliver this to that guy".

 

Here are some elementary-level ideas on how to let players kill monsters and do quests:

 

- Controlled areas in which monsters of varying strength and size are teleported to the city. These would be hunting grounds, training areas, etc. The purpose of these areas would be to quell the monster population on the surface, as to not make it unbearable for the end-game explorer.

 

- Air corruption in the air city itself. Have the flying city be at an altitude that was expected to be free from the corruption, but, alas, lower sub-level areas would slowly start being effected. Dynamic events revolving around repairing, fixing, and setting up air cleansing units would provide events for the players to do.

 

- Have the flying city being under siege by the transformed monsters from the surface. Certain areas, if not properly filtered, would become corrupted enough that monsters begin to spawn. These monsters would not just stand in the area, but instead they would go around and try and wreak as much stuff as possible. This would let newer, as well as middle game level, people have a chance at real monster fighting. However, only late game people with proper filtration from the corruption would be able to go into the contaminated zone and free it from corruption.

 

- Delivering supplies to camps located on the surface of the planet. These camps would be managed enough so that no corruption would be within the walls. However, these camps would consistently be attacked by monsters trying to destroy the air filtering devices, which lets people combat the monsters even more.

 

 

That's fine and well for early to middle game, I can work in a metric fuckton of stuff later, but now I wanna talk about late game, and how that could work..

 

Some questions that anyone is allowed to answer:

 

- What's causing the corruption?

 

- Is the planet possessed in some manner? Why are there monsters hell bent on killing all the people on the planet?

 

- How much evolution should be world have? Should players be able to work together to create new camps on the surface, and should there be an "end boss" that requires dozens of people in order to kill?

 

- What else should the world offer? A flying city and a corrupted world doesn't seem to be enough. But hey, we can pack both with content.

I do like the idea of how you get time to build a fort and then you must somehow defeat the other teams by capturing a flag or destroying their base or whatever. you would actually need teamwork and communication, which is rare

dewd ichalvl going to the whole castle in the sky thing you were talking about you could have scripted npcs that do things, i.e. a king hes in charge. every 50-70 odd day cycles there is an attempt on his life by a scripted npc assassin and the first time obv noone will see it coming but on event his death it triggers all other npc's to act differently. For example instead of usual quests or dialog they are fearful and/or dont want to talk to you. Then you have a quest for electing a new king and you have to escort his heir to fkin court or some shit and then he gets appointed and you can either let him die next cycle or protect his ass.

 

I would love to be in the message chain and am willing to help with builds or other ideas

 

 

 

and to follow the whole king/sky castle/rpg thing you could build a crapton of templates for cities/towns in the sky and on ground and plop them into the biome/world generation
