The same reason he was in Burn After Reading as the gym fanatic.

He's mother fucking Brad Pitt, he does what he wants, and he does it well.

They had running zombies in Dawn Of The Dead, and those fuckers were scary. You'd also have to remember that Left 4 Dead has zombies that can do parkour, so...yeah.
