  1. As someone who has put a lot of time into wc3 and wcs back in the CS:S days I'm honestly not averse to this idea. I never got 100% race completion but now that the server is back up I have been working towards it again. There are a few issues with this I see though.

Currently, the population is 95%+ veterans. People who have put hundreds to thousands of hours into war3. Ghoul literally has one race almost to level 600. By resetting levels that population would likely drop drastically. There are a lot of people who have put hundreds of hours into singular races, myself included. Losing the expertises from those alone would likely lose us dozens of players.

But, that is not the biggest issue with this. The biggest issue is that, without hundreds of hours of development, a complete reset would not help the server for new players more than it would hurt it for vets. There would have to be a massive restructure, where a few dozen new, interesting races are implemented and hundreds removed(if we are going off of pugs suggestion.) Would this work? Potentially. I'm sure a lot of veterans would stick around and play from level 0 to place and max new races, earn new expertises just due to nostalgia. But this is a lot of time and effort for a maybe.

There are ways to simplify the server. But I'm not sure if that should be the goal. CS:GO as a game is nearing it's 8th anniversary. Source 2 is on the horizon. Game patches that break plugins and war3 are not uncommon. Before we start asking how we increase the population and attract new players, we should ask if it's worth it. Is the CS:GO community big enough to get that kind of traction? Trying to revitalize a server with new players is a very dangerous investment that could potentially not be worth it.

I'm all for change and I would personally really enjoy a fresh start with new races and a bunch of old ones removed. But that's not what would be best for the server at this point IMO. Enough development hours have been put into this server that a restart would be risky at best, detrimental at worst.

    EDIT:

For the sake of talking about what everyone else posted about, after talking to Face, I understand the changes to cash as it was abusable and no one can honestly be trusted not to abuse it. I wouldn't be against making xp more accessible via double xp weekends or something similar. I haven't put a lot of thought into that so there are probably better ways that could improve the quality of leveling up if that's what everyone wants. The biggest issue with certain features is it being abusable. If the community can come up with features that aren't insanely difficult to implement, wouldn't break the server/make it not worth playing and would be something everyone enjoys then start thinking. Don't just demand a bunch of shit that was removed to be added back. Come up with new ways to get what you want.

  2. I like the idea of a monthly raffle, Shinn brought up some nice ones for it and I like the idea of extra level bank. Maybe do a quarterly drawing and include the Expertise and Race design in that so as to not over-burden yourself in the long run. ROTD re-roll would be PogChamp. I think I'm pretty content with the rest of the supporter benefits, but also wouldn't mind something along the lines of a supporter+ or similar.

Extra levels(350-400?) on top of your current level.

Extra +1% exp total max to the supporter pool on top of the already current max of 10% up to 15%? So if there's 10 supporters and 5 supporter+ then you have 15%.

For this if it's possible, make the amount per month a minimum of (insert dollar amount here) but allow people to change it to a higher amount if they'd like. I'm sure there are a few of us who wouldn't mind sending a bit more money in the servers direction.

Possibly make the ROTD re-roll be a Supporter+ perk?

I don't really think there needs to be a lot extra on top of it, if this is done. I think we've talked about it in the past, but it never really went anywhere. I would say Supporter+ should get two raffle tickets but I think that wouldn't be in the spirit of it being a supporter package and don't like the idea as much. These are my thoughts on it for now anyways.

  3. Khadgar needs a nerf, and I say that even loving to play the shit stain of a race. Personally I'd like to see Ice Blocks cooldown increased, the silence either be removed or duration reduced on the ultimate and possibly the slow tweaked a bit. Also Fuck crackhouse, it's fun for about 3 rounds until people bring out all the cancer races and to counter it more cancer races are played; it becomes a cesspit of insults even worse than normal war3. Also we need both italy's so I can constantly nominate them back to back FeelsGoodMan

1 hero per team at 12+ server pop, limited to like 5 rounds per 100 (per player) would be pretty dank honestly. Would definitely piss people off though.

Imagine when the worst player on your team gets the "hero" for the first 5 rounds vs someone great on the other team gets the hero. You get stomped for 5 rounds then cash/shopitems are so imbalanced

Marzu gets hero on T side while buddha gets it on CT side. What a terrible turn of events that would be.

But honestly, even taking that into account I still think it would be pretty dank. Just imagine the shenanigans that would go on.

  5. I still don't understand why we are still having this argument. This is probably the fourth time it's been addressed, as Face and Moose have both said, it's pretty much on one map. Even Khadgar's slow only ever does that what, once in a blue moon? If it was a continuous, not map related problem then I can see how the complaint would be valid. Complain about the map not the abilities, there's no point in doing a bunch of extra work to fix problems that only occur on one map(excluding some very specific areas on other maps.)

  6. Before I get started, sorry I'm late. Hadn't been on the forums as much recently, so doing some catching up and just couldn't pass by the chance to give some personal input on this conversation.

I assume you think it's warranted because the person is obviously avoiding the consequences of breaking a rule?

Unless you can devise a way to tell whether a person who left during their slay round (without notifying the admins) did so to avoid punishment or simply because they needed/wanted to leave, then I don't really see how you can think it's a dumb rule. Because it's as impossible to make that differentiation in this scenario as it is in the seemingly clear-cut case where someone leaves immediately. I mean hey, that guy who left a millisecond after RDMing might've just needed to go, too.

The bottom line is this; if you break a rule and decide to leave before completion of a slay, then (unless otherwise notified) we have no cause to think it's for any other reason than to avoid the slay.

Edit: We almost never pay attention if someone leaves well into their slay-round anyways. Pretty much all the bans are people who either leave before their slay, or immediately after it takes effect. It's usually a case of "What!? I was slain!? Screw this server!!! <Disconnected by user>". If there's a small minority of people who just happen to need to leave right after breaking a rule, and don't have time to tell an admin, all I can say is: tough for them.

The slay being given is punishment for breaking a rule, after they receive that punishment there shouldn't be anymore. They lose the time for that round whether they are in the server, leave or are slain. Keeping them there or otherwise banning them, is as Rune said, a power trip really. It's to show them that there are consequences, however as was already stated, the server isn't all children. Regardless, I get the fact that there are times when the ban is warranted to it's fullest extent, no matter when the player leaves. However it should be your job as an SO to decide whether they were leaving due to malicious intent or simply had something come up. "tough for them" is a horrible way for an admin to think, indiscriminately handing out bans because of a rule that as Avenger stated isn't even set in stone.

Ah, should have realized I was wasting time.

If you are going into a discussion with someone with the intent of simply changing their mind, and not even considering their side of the argument then you were indeed wasting your time. As you are the fool, not them. Don't always assume you and your way of thinking is right, especially in a position of power.

There's a race that goes invis and is unable to shoot and cant fire at all but I can't remember the name. Pretty sure it doesn't let you shoot at all.

Recon scout. Testing now, one sec.

EDIT: Recon scout lets you go invis and after a 1 second delay can fire after becoming visible again. However while unable to shoot, you can simply hold down LMB and it will fire as soon as possible. This means a perfectly accurate one deagle/ak shot etc without any ammo waste or spam.

  8. Oh, I'm actually retarded. Got it.

Hm, I'll be honest, I don't see it as a problem. It's a bit griefy, but by removing it's ability to shoot you end up potentially buffing the race in reality. If you've played other races that can't shoot for a period of time, you'll know the animation still plays and no bullet comes out/ammo is consumed. This causes you to still be able to spam at the same rate as if you were shooting if using something like a deagle without using any ammo from the mag, causing an infinite chain of deagle spam to the head.

Abaddon, Lord of Avernus ultimate Borrowed Time lets people walk up to someone stand in their face and spam bullets into their face so they can kill someone instantly when it ends. The race is unbalanced.

    1. Race is totally balanced IMO, it's ultimate is literally "I'm orange, don't shoot me or I heal."

    2. Run around a corner, strafe, bhop, meme flashbang etc. All of these are ways to negate getting shot directly out of his ultimate, war3 is always going to have races that you have to do something to counter the ability, whether it be another race or an in-game tactic.

so it can not shoot during its ultimate.

lol, it can't shoot during its ultimate, lol (Yes, I realize it can, I'm just actually retarded.)

  10. Quote

Strength = Melee Damage and Carry Capacity. We could swap out carry capacity for natural HP (100 at 1 point, 125 at 2. and if maxed out 225) (forgive my math if i fucked up)
Perception = Explosives, Lockpick, and energy weapons. Well, added damage to explosives such as grenades and incendiaries, there is no lock picking or energy weapons so instead replace those with evasion. C:
Endurance = Hit points, Poison, Radiation Resistance. Easy, replace all that with damage resistance, and chance of immunity to abilities and/or ultimates (could be seen as op, perhaps high skill level for immunity)
    Charisma = Speech and Barter skills, replace those with XP gain. i'm not quite too sure about what else to add onto this one i'm just a gmod so c;
Intelligence = Medicine, Repair, and Science. Or Lifesteal/ Regen.
Agility = Action Points (for VATS) and small guns and sneak skills, maybe replace with slight invisibility per level c:.
Luck = All skills and critical chance! CRITS!.

    Strength - Fine

Perception - Replace evasion with % chance extra damage

    Endurance - Fine

Charisma - People believe what you tell them, banish/confuse on hit

Intelligence - Money steal/EXP increase/Something else(kind of stumped on this one)

    Agility - Evasion/invis

    Luck - CRITS

    IMO better for each skill.

    #BringBackCentranRaces

@centran code a "hacker" race with an ultimate that does annoying admin commands on people (drug/blind/freeze/burn/slap a few times/launch for x time) with a built in rare occurrence to kick the target with a message saying they'd been hacked.

1 in a 1,000,000,000 chance to perma ban, anyone with luck that bad shouldn't be allowed to play on our servers.

i mean if an sG member knowingly plays with someone who gets on another account when they're permabanned

im not sure why they shouldnt be punished for it with all things considered

I have to agree to an extent. The only reason I would disagree is if it, by some astronomical anomaly a coincidence. Not only playing with but not reporting to a staff member that there is someone avoiding a ban, regardless of your relationship shows a lack of maturity.

  13. @Swed Tbh we weren't even going to raid you, me and Zinc were actually in the middle of raiding another base when someone said "Swed just said he hasn't been raided, lets fix it" so I hopped on board. Offline raiding is gay, but it's part of the game and not everyone plays at the same time so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On Jailbreak this is implemented, I would suggest doing it to war3 aswell.

War3 does have a nominate cooldown, but Supporter's(the new store rank) allows people to nominate any map at any time unless it's currently being played. This results in the more popular maps being played more, which IMO isn't a bad thing. The map can attract players or cause them to leave. For example, if we play Dolls/Speedcastle or a certain other select maps there is a decent amount of people that leave in the load screen.
