Steam Game Update Not Updating?

I'm trying to play GMOD and it is blue and says "Update paused", as it normally would if you stopped the download, the thing is, there is no update. When I click "play" it says "Checking for updates..." then stops. I'm not really sure what to do here. Any help?

Right click and go to properties then somewhere in there is something like verify file cache. That should check all your files and is usually the fix for most problems.

Just deleted it, can't find it anywhere. Have to rebuy apparently. fml
