you don't need an i7 if you just plan on gaming. get an i5 4690k, and if you plan to get an i7 get a 4790k

also, instead of using amazon(usually has the WORST prices) put everything on pcpartpicker and see if you get any better options. dont forget to change your location to UK.

Also: 1 250 gig ssd isnt enough, get a 1-2tb western digital drive, dont get a seagate.

No mechanical keyboards are 50 bucks btw.

the i5 is currently 50% off in the UK on amazon, you better hit up that offer, you'd be stupid not to

Not really into keyboards, but if you go with the 4790k you get the investment for the harddrive. You can overclock the i7 easily with that motherboard and that one extra multithreaded core is useless.

I recommend ducky keyboards personally. (mimic persuaded me to get one) There's also CM Storm, corsair, das keyboard, and maybe even a typeheaven if you wanna shell out the cash.

Also depends on what switches you want. Brown is overall the best typing keyboard without the obnoxious clicking of blues. Red switches are also good but are lighter and do not have a tactile bump.

Ducky keyboard's are amazing but pricey if you're just wanting a cheap mech go corsair.

If he has the money and wants to buy the 5820k he will benefit from those extra cores and threads for multi-threaded tasks like video rendering and Photoshop.

extra cores *always* matter. I'd love to see empirical data supporting the statement that 2 extra cores are useless.

Keep away from the AMD.

Told you that before.

i support this statement. AMD CPUs and AMD Video == bad.

trudat; most common applications are multithreaded and will benefit via startup times, saving, scanning, etc.

The NVidia circle jerk is fucking real.

I'll have you know that I've had more driver issues with my Titan X than with my 6950. If hardware acceleration was turned on in Chrome and you were gaming it would cause crashes and it took nvidia about a month to fix that.

Get whatever GPU matches your price range and look up benchmarks from anandtech.

I retract my statement about the core being useless, I just assumed that in his case he was using it more as a gaming machine, I wasn't aware he was doing any hardcore video editing(still not even sure what programs he's using) I just know that the 4790k is already an extremely intense cpu and the 5xxx series is overkill.
