My profile picture issues

So a while ago i a=had a profile pic and it uploaded fine. So now i'm trying to upload a gif file and its saying it to large of a file and the max is 1000 KB. So i see this and i check and it says the gif is only 266 KB, i then think, well, maybe its just because its not like a normal picture and i try to upload a pic that isn't over the limit in size and once again i get the notification saying the file is to large and i cant upload it. So i was wondering if anyone knew how to fix it.

I thought the max size for the file was 250kb.

 

I'm pretty sure it still is, not sure why it's saying its 5000kb.

There are websites where you can resize gifs, just upload it there and shrink it a bit
