Wouldn't he have to be.... way higher? Those silvers would have dragged his rating down so that the average ground was mge.... at least that's how it works when I queue with silver and lower golds.

If you queue together with a higher rank it will only take account of the higher rank to avoid boosting services.

4 awp set up lol...a few of them rushed mid and traded me out while I was awping Cat and the rest rushed long and killed the 2 awpers there. It's okay we won an all Negev and all Deagle round.

Yeah it looks like that's one of the few ways to now have such a disparity, because of the new rules about not letting high ranks Q up with low ranks.

 

So an "unranked" (less than 10 games?) player who has been dominating, could Q with silvers and cause it.
