I grew up with a friend who's name was pronounced Shay-Man, different spelling I think, but regardless, that's how I have always said it.

 

I occasionally switch back and forth between pronunciations though.

 

Now, what about Zealot?  Who says Zell-Ot and who says Zeal-lot?

While zellet is technically correct, I heavily prefer Zeal-lot, as the word is straight based off of zeal...
