Lucid Dreaming?

Recommended Posts

Want to get peoples takes on this. Is anyone else in this community a Lucid Dreamer? If so, share them here! I personally have only had around 10 but every time I get a new amazing feeling and learn something different about myself.

Don't know what Lucid Dreaming is? It's where you are consciously awake in your dreams. Meaning you can control them. Don't believe me? Look it up. You can literally do anything. (Scientifically proven)

I'll start...

I was at this fairground place with my friends. We were running until we reached a load of steps, and when I went to walk down I just kept floating forward. Since I've got a phobia of heights I got quite scared, and thus triggering my Lucidity. I starting falling, getting butterflies which I love, and from a fall like this IRL you would definitely break your legs, but I just landed. No pain, no nothing. I got up and looked in front of me, and I was in my home town. I looked behind me to see if my friends were still there but nope. The whole dream scenario changed, taking away all the characters I was with before hand and replacing them with new ones I didn't know. I was quite excited since I was walking myself, so I took time to calm myself down and increase my awareness. When I was calm enough, I wanted a challenge. So I said to myself I'll fly to the top of a building. Now I was quite scared since fears often come into Lucid Dreams, but I decided to give it a shot. So I said to myself in my dream-head, I will fly. I will go to the top of that building. Then I jumped and started floating not far off the ground. I started spinning slowly upside down and got really scared since I hate looking upside down when I'm at a height. When I got scared, I started floating upwards. I tried grabbing a lampost but my hands were like soap and just slipped right off. At this point I was quite terrified so I closed my eyes, and with that I was transported into a different dream which involved Scarlett Johansson and no lucidity (Unfortunately ;)

One of the many interesting lucid dreams I've had. Had your own? Share them here!

I suggest going to this site if you want to learn more about Lucid Dreaming or how you can become one yourself. Took me just over a month to get my first LD.

I have heard of this, but never (to my knowlage) had one.  The closest (and maybe this is the same thing), but when you are just about to wake up, you have the state where you are still dreaming, but your mind is active and you can kinda control whats happening, but only partially.... Then like 10 minutes later you finally fully wake up.....

This happened to me a lot more when I was younger, not it doesn't happen all that often, unfortunate, because it's kinda fun.

Edit: Going one step further, have you ever tried to sleep, while lucid dreaming,  And go into a lucid dream of a lucid dream, kinda like inception style.  I would love to know if this was possible.....

Really confused about what a lucid dream is. I had dreams that seem to predict the future, not sure if that counts as a lucid dream. I might sound insane but some of them seem to happen (or going to happen).

The first noticeable dream that I had seemed to predict the Japanese Tsunami/Earthquake disaster in 2011. A few weeks earlier, I had a dream that I seem to look

like a girl wearing a kimono and that I was somewhere in Japan (judging from the stereotypical house designs), the area was getting wiped out by a tsunami. I woke up before I tripped and drowned due to the water. Apparently I was sweating when I woke up.

The most recent dream that are like these "predictions" is that I was crying due to my entire life changing about realizing that I'm gay and that I fell in love with a guy in which is the only friend that I have honestly. For crying out loud, it happened a few days later. I sobbed into a pillow when I before I went to sleep instead of full-fledged crying. No, my friend and I are not a gay couple as of right now.

These dreams are seem so real that I can remember every detail from it, I also partially lost my insanity for a few hours.

If you mean go into another lucid dream from a lucid dream, it's possible.

If you dream about it, it just means your probably curious. It's in the back of your mind and so you dream about it.

Lucid dreaming seems scary as fuck. So I haven't tried.

Nothing scary about them once your in them, though when you first do become lucid you usually wake up after a few seconds because you get too excited

Tried this and Ive never been able to do it.

It's quite confusing when you first start, my sister is the one that showed me it and she had been reading about it for months and didn't have one, still do this day she hasn't gotten one.

Took me around a month of practice and hours upon hours of every night reading about it, once you get that into it you don't realize how much your taking notice, and at one point it will start coming into your dreams. At least this was the case for me, so whenever I wan't one I just look it up and read about it for a couple of hours, do some practice and meditation (sounds stupid but it works) before bed, then sleep.

Your best bet is to read about it. I've found the best time to do it is in the morning when you wake up, get an alarm of some sort which will remind you that you want to lucid dream so you don't get up, set it to turn off after around 10 seconds, don't move out of the position you waked up from, close your eyes and picture your lucid in your own landscape (literally you can make one), within 10-15 seconds you'll be in your own made LD.

There's more to it than that though such as keeping in contact with the conscious part of your brain etc, I suggest you look it up it's called the "WILD" technique (Wake Induced Lucid Dream)

This sounds like the one nightmare I was having (forgot what it was about) when something scared the shit out of me, I remember trying to wake myself up while being able to open my eyes and look around my room, but I couldn't move anything and I was in like a dream limbo..

or another time I dreamed that I was in my house, but there was an extra door that wasn't actually there in real life. I went into the door and walked down a hall way that didn't exist. Then someone woke me up.

Also, anyone ever notice you have 360 degree vision in your dreams? Some wacky shit. You can look all around you and see everything at the same time without even focusing on it. If you have a nightmare, it helps to think that when your running from something and you don't see it anymore, it no longer exists in your dream..

I had a dream that I was walking down the street in the neighborhood I used to live in. I turned a corner and came upon slenderman.. with a giant black thin-legged spider-crab body. He slowly turned his blank face towards me, then I woke up by yelling. Sounds dumb as hell but I was scared shitless. It felt real.

I hate them kinda nightmares. I had one when I was younger that I was at the bottom of my school stairs, they were quite long in width and there was a corner at the end which blocked your view from the stairs. I was walking down them and for some reason a red tint was coming off them, then suddenly I hear a large thud at the top of the stairs, I quickly run down to the corner blocking the view of the stairs, and then I hear something walking down the stairs with very creepy music playing (for some reason), then I slowly look around the corner for a Chucky-like figure to jump towards my face for me to be woken up screaming and  crying (I was like 6 at the time lol). Will never forget that dream, still gives me the creeps today just thinking about it.

Tbh, this happens to me a lot, especially when I was younger.  I only have them 3-4 times a week now.  When I was younger, I use to just create stories while sleeping; I called them episodes.  Now I have been working on trying to stop thinking its dream in my dream, which makes the lucid dream last longer (if that makes any sense?).  It's all about recognizing that it is a dream (which usually happens immediately for me) and not waking up because of that.

Yup. I had one this morning and was trying to stay aware but everything was so real. Like literally, the people who were there were so similar to the people I know IRL, couldn't keep hold of my lucidity for very long before going back into a normal dream.
