Ichalvl 1752 Posted February 26, 2014 (edited) What you're looking at is the maximum amount of purchases I could jam into one picture. Credit card info redacted, obviously. Now, you're wondering, what's this to? Cases. Sadly, not ENTIRELY cases, because: Yup, you seen't it right there, 2,000 dollars spent on steam. Now, I've (hopefully) not ACTUALLY SPENT 2,000 dollars on steam... right? Right?? I have. Remember when I tried to get a knife? That's how much I spent "trying"... ...but, of course, I had to try again. Right? Ugh. Still no knife. But, let's do some fun. I booted up a steam calculator and found this: Now, this isn't true in the slightest. I've gotten a majority of my games for more than 50% off.... Let's go digging further. Oh. Well that isn't good, now is it? That's much lower than I expected. So, 2,070 dollars spent on steam, 656 of which are games... ...oh god. does that mean? It does. I've spent 1,414 dollars on CS:GO keys And no knife. Want to know the best items I've ever gotten from cases? Let's see, there's: - Stattrak Blood in the water, worth 30 dollars- i uh... hmm. oh. Well, nothing else I've unboxed has ever been over 25 dollars.. Wowzers. Gah, if I hadn't spent that much on case keys, I would be so much richer. So, why'd I make this thread? Because I obviously have a goddamn problem. I currently have 2.55 left in my steam wallet. I'm saving it for a phoenix case, which is funny, because I hope the contents inside arise from the ashes of my terrible case openings, much like a phoenix... But after that? Done. I'm done. Super done. And I've found online that if you have full intentions to do something, you tell people. I'm making this thread so that, in the future, I'll never have an excuse to buy a case key again. Because this is terrible. I'll be sure to update this thread once I get a phoenix case and unbox it. .. What can you take away from this thread? RNG Sucks. Cases suck if you're me. Open them in my honor. And on that bombshell, ladies and gentlemen, good night. Vexium 35 Posted February 26, 2014 (edited) i spent about 300 or so opening cases, but then i got a knife and recovered half of my losses. i feel like thats the best ill do. i think, in small quantities, cases are fun gambling. but you have to remember that the odds are stacked literally absurdly against your favor. knife drops are something like .01% chance. thats not even factoring in the stat trak roll or the roll for quality. so the odds of a good drop are literally in the tens of thousands for knives, and for red-rarity its something like 1 in 1000-5000. its just not worth it. ur better off tossing money into completely randomized stock portfolios Edited February 26, 2014 by Vexium

Vorpist 4 Posted February 26, 2014 Holy Moly! $2000 smack-a-roos!!! Why didn't you buy one instead! I spent at least $100 in case keys and $90 on CS:GO related purchases. I was able to snipe a knife for $30 and resell it for $75. I am almost back even. I was so close to getting a stattrak blue laminate ak47, but it landed on the next weapon right between them. I almost threw my mouse across the room too.

iAlwaysFail 799 Posted February 26, 2014 If you opened cases on new accounts, you would have more chance from what I know and seen. A lot of new accounts who open cases get a knife from 1-10 unboxed cases but its usually a shit knife like a flip or gut

A lot of new accounts who open cases get a knife from 1-10 unboxed cases but its usually a shit knife like a flip or gut"shit" knife. any knife skin is awesome. you're just spoiled and used to trading knives and having a new one everyday. meanwhile the rest of us are stuck with this stock piece of shit. oh and icha, just buy the goddamn skin next time and skip the crates. 3 Smooth-eh, water.exe and BeauutifulChaos reacted to this
cookie eater 965 Posted February 26, 2014 i've only spent like 20$ on csgo, including keys, guns, passes, etc.. (not including hte game itself) but, HOLY SHIT BRO.
.Veritas 59 Posted February 26, 2014 I too also really wanted a knife when they were first released. But after opening 20 cases or so, and getting absolute shit, I gave up. I knew my luck was shitty and wasn't going to get better. I sadly know I will never get a knife now, but I can buy some decent skins from selling all them cases. I know some guy who was kinda worse off then you. He opened a Karambit Fade. However, this guy was so addicted to opening cases that he sold it for cases and keys, and got nothing out of it. HCMikey 248 Posted February 26, 2014 (edited) When you really think about it, you just spent about 2000 dollars for the chance of getting a virtual item that you wanted for god knows what reasons. The only reasons I can think of for you wanting a knife is to impress others or you like the way it looks, both bad reasons to spend 2000 dollars on and you still didn't get anything. I don't know how wealthy you are but 2000 dollars gets you a pretty badass rig, something that the majority of us can agree on is way better than getting a virtual knife. Now if you did it for fun, are not in any financial trouble, and know you don't have a gambling problem, then more power to you but please, like BC said, don't go to a casino. I went into this whole drop system with the mindset of not investing anything and just seeing how much I can get out of it. I can proudly say I haven't put one cent into cs:go and I have currently made over $100 just by patience. Sure it's not fun or risky, but at least I'm not dropping 2 grand on the chance of getting something. I consider that a massive win.
