Is dropping your pistol as lurker illegal while you defuse?

They said you couldn't because its against the rules to be completely invisible but lurker has 95% invis.

Just wondering what the rule was on this

I had a bit of clarification from bink and ika maybe a week or two ago that it was legal because you can still partially see the lurker even if pistol is dropped in CSGO, whereas in CS:S if the lurker were to drop his/her pistol they would be completely invisible

Yes, it's legal because you are 5% visible.

The long standing rule even since CSS is that you can defuse as long as your not 100% invisible or god mode during the defuse. So shadow lurker dropping pistol and defusing while cheesy is completely legal.

On the subject, generally the few races that have an affect on defusing bombs go:

 

Can defuse:

Lurker with no pistol (5% visibility)

BLU Scout (5% chance to get hit so you're technically not invulnerable)

Infected (Used to not be allowed to defuse with a defuse kit but one day we stopped caring about it for some reason)

Archimonde with ult (5% visibility)

Chronos wiith ult (Can be knifed)

 

Cannot defuse:

Goliath with ultimate (5 seconds of invincibility, can cheese defuse)

Recon Scout with +ability (100% invisibility)

You can't knife a Chronos w/ ult up if you don't have ult immunity, since you'll just get rooted if you try to enter. Oddly enough I haven't seen anyone try to abuse this for some reason.
