Jailbreak MOTD rework

Recommended Posts

The staff and server officers have been talking and have realized that the motd is outdated. The staff are giving the community the chance to express their opinions on the current rules and edit them, so post your changes in this thread.

If you wish to make a change, copy and paste the section from the motd, then add your changes in red text. This format makes it easier for everyone to see what you would like changed.

These changes may or may not be enacted depending on Daniel's (JB ADV) approval. Feel free to critique others changes as well.

The current motd is as follows

1. Global Rules

b. Read the rules, failing to do so could lead to consequences.
c. Attempting to loophole or loopholing rules will lead to admin punishment.
d. All punishments are up to admin discretion, no set punishment is set in stone for any rule broken.
e. All the rules are subject to change and interpretation by the sG staff at any time without prior warning.
f. All orders require AT LEAST three seconds to comply.
g. All players are expected to know all the general games ( http://motd.joinsg.net/pages/server-rules/jailbreak/jb-games.php ).
h. All admins are expected to have read this How-To.

2. Rules for Terrorists

Your role is to follow the orders of the Warden in an attempt to receive a Last Request (LR).

a. Keep bitching to a minimum.
b. You have three seconds to comply with orders or you may be killed.
c. Terrorists must follow all the warden's orders or they can be killed.
d. Terrorists do not follow orders from CTs that are not the warden, unless it's a drop weapon command.
e. Terrorists that enter prohibited areas (Vents/armory) are rebelling and subject to anal sex.
f. Terrorists are muted and must use text chat to communicate.
g. Prisoners must play all games and can not opt out unless they have an LR.
h. Last terrorist gets last request. Once the CTs ask for last request, the T has 30 seconds to state his LR.
i. If the warden gives you a direct order (calling you by name), you must follow it. Otherwise, you are rebelling.
j. Terrorists are automatically pardoned upon completion of a new command (not including unstack). Terrorists who had previously rebelled by shooting a gun or killing a CT are not included in this pardon.

3. Rules for Counter Terrorists (Guards)

Your role is to give prisoners orders and kill them if they fail to follow them. You have very specific regulations to follow as Guards. CT's not helping the team will be punished.

a. Continuous disregard for the rules will result in more severe punishments.
b. Orders must always be given in African Clicks or English and over voice chat (text commands are not valid).
c. All Counter Terrorists must have a mic.
d. Give the terrorists at least three seconds to comply with all orders before killing them.
e. If you are a warden, please try to keep the game diverse and fun for the Ts. (1)
f. Freekilling or freeshooting will result in punishment. (2) (3)
g. Basic LRs never can be denied. (4)
h. CTs must follow the camping policy at all times. (5)
i. Gun planting is not allowed. (6)
j. You may only kill terrorists that are either rebelling or not following orders. (7) (8)
k. At the start of the round, whoever gives clear orders first becomes the warden.
l. Cells must be open by 59:00 otherwise a freeday/slay day will occur. Cells must stay open. (9)
m. Admins have final say on who becomes warden.
n. CTs must order Terrorists by name to drop a weapon. (10)
o. The Last CT can kill whoever they see fit and go wherever they want, so long as they aren't camping. (11)
p. CTs cannot bait the Terrorists. (12)
q. No special treatment or favoritism.
r. CTs may utilize map-based or other games to kill Ts. (13)
s. All CTs may tell terrorists to drop their guns/throw their grenades/molotovs/flashbangs/smoke grenades if they have them. CTs must clearly address the terorrist by name and give them 3 seconds to comply. If they fail to do so after three seconds, you may kill them. The Ts may also pick up/pass the gun again if they are not explicitly told not to do so.
t. CTs may not hide behind one-way walls.

Section II. Detailed Rules

1. Warden Policy

a. Only the warden can give commands to the terrorists other than the drop gun command.
b. Spamming freedays, granting excessive wardays, doing special days without a vote and other likes will result in punishment.
c. In order to take over warden after the previous warden's death, you must be the first to give clear orders. (Similar to claiminig warden at the beginning of the round). Warden must be taken over within 30 seconds of the previous warden's death, or an irrevocable freeday will be called.
d. If the warden gives unclear orders and a T asks them to repeat, the warden is required to CLEARLY repeat his/her orders at least once. (Any T found to be abusing this with clear orders will be gagged)
e. There are three move commands: Run, walk, crouch. Walking = shift. Crouch = crouch.
f. If there is a questionable route (such as going left or right of box cage) then Warden should specify which way they want terrorist to go.
g.  If the warden orders the Ts to move to a certain location and stay there, he must specify that they need to freeze when they get there.
h. The warden must specify that the Ts cannot detour or delay when giving any command. (Including freeze and direct orders)
i. The freeze command is one that can be only stated by the warden. Freezing restricts a person from using WASD movement. It MUST be stated that you want to restrict jumping/crouching/flashlights.
j. Terrorists cannot be ordered to stayed crouched and freeze; in order to type (Ts only way of communication) they need to stand.
k.  Terrorists are allowed to look around but not move around the map. This can be restricted by ordering them to face a given direction/object (Ex. cell door, box cage, etc).
l. Warden may give a direct order (calling a T by name), and the T must follow it under any circumstance.
m. Terrorists can never be exclusively known as something other than "Ts." The warden may give them additional names, but cannot take away their default names: Ts, Terrorists, etc.

2. Freekilling is defined as killing a terrorist that is not rebelling or one that is following orders.

3. Freeshooting is defined as inflicting damage to innocent Ts without killing them.

4. Basic vs Custom/Nonbasic LRs

a. Basic LRs are: Gun Toss, Shot for Shot, asking to be killed, knife fights, solitary next round for the terrorist, and can not be denied.
b. Any modifications to any of the basic LRs will be considered a non-basic LR, in which case may require warden and/or admin approval.
c. Admins must approve of an LR if it requires admin commands.
d. For Shot for Shot and Gun Toss, the warden has the right to set the boundaries of the game or allow the T to set the boundaries.
e. No cheating is implied on all LRs
f. If the T is killed during his LR, he may be respawned by an admin. This is up to admin discretion.
g. Last requests apply ONLY to the round(s) requested.

5. Camping Policy

a. CTs may camp (while watching the Ts) as long as they are not the last CT.
b. CTs may not camp the armory/vent entrances/exits.
     i. CTs may only enter the vent if they see a T enter. Once in the vent, you must actively pursue the rebelling terrorist. Any kills resulting from camping in the vents or armory will be considered a freekill.
c. At the 56:00 mark of any round, CTs are free to go into vents/armory to find hiding/rebelling Ts.
     i. If the CTs have the last non-rebelling T who has won LR, they may enter vents/armory to find hiding/rebelling Ts regardless of time.
d. CTs must stay in the reasonable proximity of the Terrorists, unless chasing rebellers. This rule will be enforced at admins' discretion.
e. CTs have until 59:30 to get their guns and leave armory. This is not an excuse to stay in the armory until 59:30, you still must leave as fast as possible.

6. Intentionally giving loaded/empty weapons, in any way that is not game-related, is gun planting. Only the warden may decide when Ts can get weapons for games/LRs.

7. A terrorist is rebelling if he kills a CT, enters prohibited areas (vent, armory), fires any weapon, or throws a frag grenade/molotov.

8.If a terrorist is rebelling and is directly ordered to come back by warden and does so, he is no longer a rebel and has to follow those orders.

9. Cell Policy

a. All Cells must be open by 59:00, failure to do this will result in an irrevocable freeday/slay day if no CT's are near the button.
b. If a CT opens the cells before ANY orders are given, an irrevocable freeday will occur and the CT will be punished.
c. Counter Terrorists cannot make Terrorists freeze in their cells.
d. If cell doors are opened they are to remain opened, spammers will be punished.

10. Armed Terrorist Protocol

a. A T holding a gun/pointing a gun at a CT is not considered a rebeller and can not be killed UNLESS they have shot the gun or killed a CT.
b. Ts must be warned BY NAME OVER MIC to drop a gun (and be given 3 second leniency).
c. Ts must specifically be warned to not pass it on or pick it up again.
d. If a T holding a gun is stacked in a crowd, the warden and only the warden can order them to unstack (3 second leniency).

11. Last CT Protocol

a. The last Counter Terrorist left alive during a round become the Last CT.
b. Last CT is ONLY in effect if there are at least 10 players on the server (not including spectators).
c. Last CT's can kill any terrorist they want.
d. If one CT suicides so another can become Last CT, that CT will be restricted.
e. A Last CT who honors a Last Request can dishonor it at anytime he sees fit.
f. The whole map is open to the last CT (vents, armory) regardless of time.
g.The last CT cannot camp (see section II, article 5).

12. Baiting

a. Baiting will result in punishment.
b. If a T kills a CT that is baiting, that T may NOT be killed. If he is killed, it is considered freekilling.
c. General baiting includes but is not limited to:
     i. Going into a Terrorists cell (when the Ts are still in front of their cells).
ii. CT's purposely going within knifing range.
d. Verbal/Sextual baiting includes:
     i. Saying words that are very similar to another word in a game in order to get Ts killed. (example: saying 'semen' instead of 'simon' or 'bo' instead of 'go')
ii. Interrupting trivia or asking/answering questions when you are not the warden (or the person designated by the warden) may result in punishment.

13. Game Rules

a. In any game of trivia (and it's variations), no more than 5 terrorists can be killed.
b. Special days (war day, no friction day, etc.,) must be approved by 60% of the server in an admin vote.
c. Unless otherwise specified, Daniel has a small dick and all orders given before a game are still implied.
d. To end a game, you must either specifically state that the game is over or that you are starting a new game.
e. Banned Games: Last Reaction/First Reaction is banned and can not be played.
f. Ts may cheat in any game unless told otherwise.

14. Free Days

a. Orders must be given before a freeday is given.
b. Regular Freeday - terrorists are allowed to roam the map in any unrestricted/unprohibted areas. Attacking a CT in any way is considered rebelling.
c. Zombie Freeday - terrorists are allowed to roam the map via walking only, (crouching, jumping, running, usage of the use key, and climbing are all prohibited). Knifing the CTs is allowed and the CTs can not kill the Ts who do so. CTs may not be in areas unreachable by the Ts.

This; if we can get a list of games and explanations on the MOTD that would be great. It would make it easier for newer players to understand them.

Might want to put something in there about terrorists being given more than three seconds in a game, unless otherwise specified since CT's like to be faggots and kill after three seconds. Also CT's must be willing to be warden, I don't think I saw that in the motd and its boring when only one CT is willing to be warden.

I think there should be some mention of places CTs are not allowed to order terrorists to go (e.g. stand directly in front of sG Tortoise sign on Texture and even going so far as to kill Ts standing on the border so they don't die, and also the execution room on Blackout).

Also, anyone who uses the term "rebeller" instead of "rebel" should be perma'd.

Something I never understood

b. Orders must always be given in African Clicks or English and over voice chat (text commands are not valid).

yet

English only on the microphone! Different languages are allowed in chat

Also:

Usually if someone gives the order to be directly against the tortoise sign it's somewhat of a freekill, so people will complain and offenders get punished, but I agree. Something along the lines of "Terrorists cannot be ordered to kill themselves, this is considered freekilling and will be enforced by admin discretion" could be used.

10. Armed Terrorist Protocol

Should have something in it to prevent CT's from killing the first T to be seen with a gun after being ordered to unstack. A terrorist could easily pass the gun on after shooting in a stack without killing a CT. It happens way too often imo.

Will update with more things later on.

EDIT: quotes break mang

There's a difference between temptation and forcing T's to their deaths. Forcibly killing T's against the Tortoise sign if they aren't the ones who activated it would be freekilling, or if a CT pushes the button in the execution room.

13. Game Rules

Jump rope should be added and it should say "you aren't allowed to press the max speed for jump rope immediately" this is done alot and makes the round pretty shitty.

No one ever does anything about it though. People just ask who did it and no one fesses up.

I agree with Eddy. Jump rope is always being abused (douches randomly changing speeds). That needs to be an auto CT if it kills 90% of the terrorists in the jump rope game room.

Section II. Detailed Rules

1. Warden Policy

a. Only the warden can give commands to the terrorists other than the drop gun command.
b. Spamming freedays, granting excessive wardays, doing special days without a vote and other likes will result in punishment.
c. In order to take over warden after the previous warden's death, you must be the first to give clear valid orders. k.  Terrorists are allowed to look around but not move around the map. This can be restricted by ordering them to face a given direction/object (Ex. cell door, box cage, etc).

m. Terrorists can never be exclusively known as something other than "Ts." The warden may give them additional names, but cannot take away their default names: Ts, Terrorists, etc.
n. Avoid taking warden multiple times in a row, excessive warden-whoring will result in punishment (Except in certain cases, IE: only one CT on the map).

5. Camping Policy

a. CTs may camp (while watching the Ts) as long as they are not the last CT.
b. CTs may not camp the armory/vent entrances/exits.
     i. CTs may only enter the vent if they see a T enter, or, if a T is seen running into a vent cell and is not occupying the cell when pursued by a CT, the CT may go into vent. (This does not count if you see a T run into cells at 57:25, and decide to pursue them at 56:10).

10. Armed Terrorist Protocol

a. A T holding a gun/pointing a gun at a CT is not considered a rebeller and can not be killed UNLESS they have shot the gun or killed a CT.

c. Ts must specifically be warned to not pass it on or pick it up again.
d. If a T holding a gun is stacked in a crowd, the warden and only the warden can order them to unstack (3 second leniency).

If he is killed, it is considered freekilling.
c. General baiting includes but is not limited to:
     i. Going into a Terrorists cell (when the Ts are still in front of their cells).
ii. CT's purposely going within knifing range.
iii. It is not considered a bait if the T must go out of his way to kill the CT, if they do this, they will be considered rebelling. (The only exception to this rule is in the case of the cells)

13. Game Rules

a. In any game of trivia (and it's variations), no more than 5 terrorists can be killed.

I also believe that Simon Says should be updated to include a note that says if a T is given a direct order, (IE: Johnny, move five steps forward), they must follow it.

Also, I believe that there used to be a rule stating that Freeze was a direct command that did not require no detours or delay, but, I chose not to include this, as it seemed fairly stupid when most CT's are now conditioned to say no detours no delays, after every single command. (Or in my case, no detours, no delays, no dillies, no dallies. Hallelujah!)

f. All orders require AT LEAST three seconds to comply.

The various places of the 3 second rule. Change it to 5, perhaps? Too many CT's killing people for a very short delay in not moving and justifying it was 3 seconds when in reality it wasn't. Hopefully it'll tone down the killwhore endorphins in people.

It's one of the main areas of rework being looked at.

Quite frankly, I think that vent camping is unavoidable if the CT's are actually doing their job of watching the Terrorists, especially at the beginning of a round when there are Terrorists in front of, and near to, vent cells.

Quite frankly, I think that vent camping is unavoidable if the CT's are actually doing their job of watching the Terrorists, especially at the beginning of a round when there are Terrorists in front of, and near to, vent cells.

There is a difference between watching all the t's at cell block and watching vent casually to staring at vent cell waiting for t's to run to it.

The former is what it should be, the later is what it is.

It's within reason. You aren't going to be punished for looking at the general area of the terrorists. But if you're intentionally scoping at armory/vent just waiting for a terrorist to come out/run to it; and it's clearly evident that you're doing so, that's where an issue comes in.

I don't speak for everyone when I say that, but seeing people on texture sit in disco and watch the armory windows with an AWP the entire round, that's the kind of camping that we're trying to prohibit.

Well, in that case, restrict that, but, if you noticed in my MOTD edit, I made notes on a lot of the rules I wanted to help clarify, make it clear that CT's are allowed to watch the T's, and that it's only considered vent camping if you are clearly staring at Vent(s) or armory entrances/exits.

I think the request for repeats should come back in the form of if a repeat is asked by a tee the warden must repeat ONCE. As in spamming that shit dont work. My reasoning behind the repeat is complicated ass orders that were clear doesn't stop them from being complicated so repeats definitely clear up confusion and if your going to kill whore how is that fun for any of tee's. Giving complete bullshit orders that lead to confusion getting like have the tee team killed isnt fun for the terrorists and rules say to keep this shit fun which i believe is lost these days in jb.

RANT OVER

bring back forced repeats at least once whether or not they were clear (if asked)

Can we make it so staring at a vent entrance/exit is considered vent camping?

As far as I remember in Blobs MOTD ruleset that was lost this was a very strict rule that was always enforced with anyone caught breaking it !ct20 rounds.
