ChosenOne2000 4440 Posted September 2, 2010 Everytime I try to explain what I do for a living people get confused. I can't break it down any further. If it's tl:dr don't worry about it. UnknownLegend 5480 Posted September 2, 2010 Reminds me of the movie Up in the Air, where they try to fire people through a computer chat and it ends up being a really bad idea. You are gonna end up reaching more people, but you know how the army works-- they're going to refer more people to these programs and a lot of the people who need more intense care aren't going to get it. Even if this thing works as it should, more people might come forward for therapy and get recommended on to more intense care who otherwise wouldn't seek care, and then you would have the possibility of overloading already-swamped health services.tl;dr - I think this is a bad idea, but this is my opinion based on a cursory reading and 5 minutes of reflection. Marine 2580 Posted September 2, 2010 I can haz tax paid therapy from C1 if I join Army? =OBut I have to go with what Junzou put, it does remind me of up in the air when they'd talk to people through the net and manage their emotions that way. I'm curious though on how far they let you treat a person through the net, like...Wouldn't some emotions through a screen be harder for you to detect? For example, If someone is constantly nervous, their thumbs twiddling with each other, or their eyes looking all over the place when talking and such. UnknownLegend 5480 Posted September 2, 2010 I dunno, I just feel like it's going to cause more problems than it's going to solve, like the whole WTU thing at Fort Carson. EDIT::After thinking about it more, it seems like a glorified crisis hotline (no offense intended)... but instead of semi-trained volunteers, it sounds like you're pulling away from resources that could be spent treating people at the VA, at outpatient clinics, or even abroad and putting them behind the computer screens. I dunno. Still seems like a shaky investment, they need more testing.

That's the theory behind this.

Pebbz. 953 Posted September 2, 2010 You're doing it wrong, then. Vent is only boring when talking to monotone Bhop players. Even the JB fag crew (LoL, I guess) isn't bad anymore.
Dojima 7619 Posted September 2, 2010 It's usually just people talkin' about whatever game they're playing. Pretty pedestrian stuff.
