It seems that my computer has contracted some kind of virus. I'm on vista, and my Start bar is all vista looking, but my windows look like windows 98, and i can't seem to open links from google, cause they redirect me to some other sites. Also, when i go on CS:S my ping rockets from 42 to 455. Every server i go to. I don't know what's going on, could someone help me out? I scanned with Avast! and it didnt detect anything, and myMalwarebytes doesn't seem to start up.

Do you know if your router is set up properly?

Could be someone leeching your internet connection.

Im on 7 atm, but i knows its super simple to change your shit back to normal.

but your google problem definitely seems like you got some malware...

make sure your malwarbytes is up to date.

do you know how to configure your router to only accept certain MAC addresses?

Its the most surfire way to secure your network from unwanted traffic (at least from small amount of expierance, it totally fixed my problems when i had them )

Hello Eddie and Welcome to Malwarebytes

Please try the following routine to see if you can get Malwarebytes to run.

Click on Start, click Run, and then type devmgmt.msc and click OK

On the View menu click on Show hidden devices

Browse to Non-Plug and Play Drivers and you should see something like TDSSserv.sys

Highlight that driver and right click on it and select DISABLE

Now RESTART your computer.

Download a copy of Malwarebytes but DO NOT run it yet.

Rename the downloaded installer file to any generic name such as your own name but keep the .EXE extension on the file and run it.

Once the program is installed go to the UPDATE tab and try to update the program if you can.

Then go to the SCANNER tab and run a Quick Scan and allow MBAM to fix anything found.

If that does work then please follow the routine below and post a new topic in the listed forum with the requested information.

if all goes well, Should close your start menu, then after a few seconds you should see it and a notepad window. (you may want to run with admin priviledges) this temporarily stops some programs from running.

then try scanning.

Try running a Virus Scan Bit Defender or KiS (kaspersky internet security 2010) if that dosent work back Important items and Formant.
