If you can take the Silver tip off you will see a threaded nut that

has a slot for adjusting the lens in and out...

There is a red thread sealer that will need to be broken...

Once you can focus the beam to a pin point it will burn...

I've burnt raw pine wood with a focused 30mW Blu-Ray

These lasers are sold as 5mW lasers, but like I said, the people ordering them are getting them between 30 and 50mW.

I want one, but what am i going to do with a burning laser pointer? In other words, when will it ever be useful...? I can't use it to point at things, it'll just burn them. fear of reflections would make me hesitant to use it too.

30–50mW laser is not going to burn anything. 50mW might if all the planets are aligned and you're using fresh batteries and a magnifying glass.

Pretty sure I quoted someone saying it needed to be focused in order to burn...

And yeah klark, lots of people here in the US on those forums have received their lasers-- I'll let you know when I get mine in a couple of weeks.
