I never said a word about money so I don't know why you're assuming that.
The school itself has the ability to help her with her schedule and workload which could easily aid in helping her manage the time. It seems as if she chose to be in the custody of the family she works for as it is probably easier for her to work and she might be a bit close to them. She's getting free bedding and free food living there as well as a working wage so it's not that bad. It's not like she chose these classes after it happened, she chose them before and the parents being assholes decided to not even care for their own children. She can't back out of these classes now, so close to the end of the road because if she does she'll fail them and all that hard work and dedication will go down the drain. I imagine that she'll probably get a scholarship and financial aid either giving her nothing to pay or very little due to her high academic abilities so looking in her point of view, it can't be that long until she gets out of this situation and into a better one. Unfortunately, she really needs help here and there's no one who's helping her where she needs it(IE: School schedule/Workload).

No school in their RIGHT FUCKING MIND would expel someone in this situation. Yes she's lucky the Law was involved but they involved themselves IN THE WRONG FUCKING WAY. Oh hey, this girl needs help, we should help her. NOPE CHUCK TESTA, Lets throw her in jail and make things even harder for her emotional, psychologically and academically because she missed a day to do work.

Who says he didn't? Nowhere in the article does it say "The judge chose to select this one person to go to jail and decided to allow the others a free pass."
If your course schedule is too heavy for you to actually make it through a regular high school schedule, maybe you are better off with just taking the GED so you can work and get started with college (which is the assumption since she is taking college level courses). She seems to have the educational skills to be able to pass it without issue.

The more shocking thing is that he doesn't seem to grasp that, as a Judge, he gets to dole out whatever sentence he pleases within the confines of the law. The purpose of a judge is to be relative with the sentence depending on the circumstances. So yes, Judge Moriarty, you can let the honors student working two jobs with no parents off the hook but you can throw the gangbanger who never shows up in jail. Asshole.

Pretty sure they're talking about weapons and armor and whatnot. There's no set gear that is the strongest like Tier 1-13 in WoW. Knowedge of the game and skill in aiming/decision making will obviously still give the older player the edge.

this is more of an economical issue, consider a business owner in a bad economy. To ensure that he is still making profits with reduced sales, he lays off a bunch of people. One day he decides he needs some extra help, he will naturally hire someone who positively stands out and disregard those who seem ordinary.
^this issue has nothing to do with a Bachelor's degree or major. Anyone who is exceptional will do just fine. Those who aren't might not. Thats the way it has always been and it hasn't changed.

I still think that is a problem considering the fact that a high school degree is becoming less and less valuable and a bachelors degree is becoming the new high school degree. That means that with the higher need for a college degree, the bigger problem it will be for students who don't or can't stand out like others do. I think saying "if you stand out in a major you will be fine" is oversimplifying the issue.
