Can i use an Lga 1150 fan on an lga 1151 cpu?

I recently was just looking to buy a new cpu heatsink and i found a be quiet pure rock cpu heatsink, and i looked at the specs and it didnt have lga 1151, so i was wondering if it would work. (First time building a pc)

Yes, the difference between 1150 and 1151 is 1 pin.

as the two above me stated, the answer is yes. HOWEVER, let's say you purchase a water cooler which clearly states it only supports LGA1150, but as we know it'll work.. you put it on and it leaks.. perhaps it has a 1yr warranty for damaged parts or something. well, you used it inappropriately, so they don't have to pay.. 

 

now if they're not a shit company, they'll probably cover it, but if not.. they aren't obligated to.
