I have so many fucking questions about your setup I don't even know where to begin.

A lot of them start with, "But why?"

I saw the monitors when I posted it and decided to leave it for a chuckle. Speccy is displaying my TV 3 times, and one of those instances is as a 144HZ monitor.

For monitors, I currently have:

1x VG248QE

2x VS239

1x LG TV

This is my RAM: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-4x4GB-Desktop-Memory/dp/B006QAXVYA?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00

Since RAM works duel channel, it should be showing half speed, and the XMP profile in the dropdown for the ram section says 1066 MHZ. I'm not quite sure why it says 666 though. @driz?

CPU is OC'd to 4.2GHZ, I have 3 SSDs because fuck you.

you're running the memory at your default speed. 666 dual is 1333 which is ddr3 default.

1) do you have multiple XMP profiles? make sure you are picking the 2133 one

2) if you have some optimize function in your bios/uefi, run this and you'll likely hit your 2133 (your ram SHOULD be 1066MHz

the memory is XMP1.3, which i don't think is supported by the z77 chipset, i could be wrong. if that is the case, simply manually set your memory to the right specs.

1.5V

if the XMP profile prevents you from posting, try 2000Mhz (1000x2) and lower your timings to 10-10-10-27... that being said, i think you just don't have the xmp profile set (i know you said you do, but it's running default)

did you set it in the bios/uefi or in some software solution that came on a disc?

--------

upgrade opinions, what are you hoping to achieve? the 1080 will be significant, you're bottlenecked by your disks since max serial ssd speed is ~550MBps.. to break that barrier you need skylake and an NVMe SSD.

@driz is DDR4 spec backwards compatible for DDR3? So if I get a skyline cpu/board with ddr4 capabilities, can I still run ddr3

there are SOME boards that do this; the chipset isn't designed for it though..

http://wccftech.com/skylake-does-not-support-ddr3-damage-ddr3l-only/

i wouldn't do it.. you can get ddr4 cheap enough

So I would be better off with a new build then?

it sounds like you're already talking about a new build..

you said if you get skylake/new board.. im just saying also get new ram :P you would have to buy a specific motherboard to get ddr3 support and it will limit your options and such. if you are already planning to buy a new skylake proc and board, get ddr4.

your next upgrade would be an NVMe SSD.. it's ~4x faster than an EVO 850.. it's the most noticeable upgrade you can get (aside from when you moved from HDD to SSD in the first place.  consider this

a WD raptor was about 133MBps read

an evo 850 is ~ 540MBps read

an NVMe is ~2500MBps read

if you thought your ssd was a big upgrade... nah. (but you need the z170 chipset to get the full speed of an nvme, so only if you are already upgrading those should you get this)

Ok, I just finished poking around in my UEFI.

My profile selector was on AUTO, and wouldn't select the XMP 1.3 unless I did it manually

XMP 1.3 failed to post

2133 at 11-11-11-27 wouldn't post

2000 at 10-10-10-27 posted and is what I'm on now

Here's a SS of my RAM section on speccy:

Yeah I just switched to skylake 6700k from my old board with a different bridge and ddr3. 16gb ddr4 is only 60 bucks so its worth it.

@driz @ZachPL

Doing some preliminary research, here's what I have so far:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/VLNGXH
Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/VLNGXH/by_merchant/

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($338.99 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  (Purchased For $0.00)
Motherboard: Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($144.88 @ OutletPC)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($75.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card  ($680.00)
Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case  (Purchased For $0.00)
Total: $1239.86
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-06-08 12:52 EDT-0400

Things labeled purchased for 0.00 I already own, and I didn't take time to include my storage in there because it was pointless. I also have either an 800 or 850w gold rated power supply so I'll be fine there.

Please take a hard look at the motherboard and point out any flaws with it. I'm already not exactly psyched about only having 4 standard SATA 3.0 ports but I'll live.

1) why do you want an i7? are you planning to use hyperthreading? I suggest the i5 6600k. you can easily overclock to 4.5Ghz stable with a decent cooler (which you have) .

1a) unless your planning to run VMs or something that is going to use HT threads there's no point IMO because most apps can't leverage the available threads anyway (and ht threads are fake)

2)i have that board, it's stellar.

also:

ASMedia® USB 3.1 controller :
1 x USB 3.1 port(s) (Type-A)
ASMedia® USB 3.1 controller :
1 x USB 3.1 port(s) (Type-C, Reversible)
Intel® Z170 chipset :
6 x USB 3.0/2.0 port(s) (4 at back panel, blue, 2 at mid-board)
Intel® Z170 chipset :
8 x USB 2.0/1.1 port(s) (2 at back panel, black, 6 at mid-board)

Just bought these last week working great, I don't really see any reason for the gaming version of the board, only difference is one USB slot and 3000mhz ram which you don't have. Although the usbs could be important if my case didn't have 6 usb ports lol

I bought gskill because they work pretty great and you won't notice the +1 latency.

I'm going with 3200 clock on the new build, I don't know if you saw that?
