Friend having Skyrim technical issues

So, my friend recently got Skyrim, however when he hits play on Steam, nothing happens. He's uninstalled and reinstalled it twice and contacted Steam support weeks ago with no response. Any advice?

you mean like, when he hits play it doesn't even launch? try going to the directory of the game and launching both of the exe's (launcher and game) and see if that does anything

 

also you said he didn't verify his game cache, try that before anything

My buddy had this same issue with Starbound. He fixed it by verifying game cache and then running the .exe in administrator mode.
