Discussion: Judge of Altana

As someone who plays knife races a lot it's come to my attention that Judge of Altana is the perfect anti-knife race. It's so perfect in fact that it's nearly impossible to kill without the assistance of someone with a gun or the judge being very blind. Altana needs a nerf in the areas that affect knife races to make it at least killable.

 

Reason #1

Two skills that hard-counter knife races.

Entangle (strong against any race) and Knife Immunity.

 

Reason #2

You need THREE Backstabs to kill a full health Altana.

A person usually becomes aware that there is an enemy after the first stab.

 

Reason #3

High Damage UMP with Extended Clip.

Not only can you not kill it, but it can easily melt you.

 

Just because a race counters another one it shouldn't be brutally unkillable. That Knife Immunity deserves to be weakened in some way.

I do agree it's very unfriendly against knives. I don't want it nerfed too bad to the point of it being no fun anymore though.

The race is really strong in general.I don't pity knife races.

Back on WCS this race was very weak but it was worse than it is now for knife races. I don't remember if it had bonus damage or not back on WCS but scaling it down shouldn't be a issue. I remember the only way for two zombies to kill this race back on WCS was to hump the race with their aoe damaging expertise.

 

I don't know the duration on the root, but making it single target should be more than enough to balance the race. If not shorten the duration of the root?

The reason it's so much stronger in CSGO is that the UMP is actually a good gun now. I did lower the +damage from 8 to 7, but the UMP does so much more damage in CSGO that this didn't make much of a difference.
