Pretty sure my main media HDD is about to die.

Honestly, I don't know much about how HDDs and how sectors work. What I do know is that this drive has been unusually slow for the past month or so, and yesterday I noticed that videos stored on this drive are now occasionally lagging and freezing when played. And this screenshot and that nasty 899 Uncorrectable Sector Count basically confirms my suspicions that something has gone horribly wrong with it. I'd give it at best a month before the thing completely dies.

 

I can't really say I'm that surprised this is happening since it is after all a 2010 3TB Drive, which had fairly high failure rates from what I could tell. I'm shocked that it lasted this long to be honest.

 

Anyways, I'm just about finished backing up most of the important data. However, I don't have enough space to backup everything since this was my largest drive and the other drives save for my SSD are nearly filled.

 

Any suggestions for a reliable 3TB?

Yeah, it's kinda expensive for a Hard Drive but at this point it's better to be safe than sorry.
