Yes of course, the nagant could be a replica for display purposes or it could be functional. Either way it would be a neat thing to own and to show off.

No real reason to make a replica of something when there are millions of originals for sale for dirt cheap.

Depends. I really enjoy creating things. And there's something about making something yourself rather than just spending money on it.

There's enough maintenance required in getting a surplus Mosin up to pristine shape that it can be considered a project in itself. Plus you can, you know, shoot stuff with it.
