niC- 9 Posted February 12, 2008 Yeah I'm running OS X Leopard 10.5.1 on my PC O:! For those of you who don't know about it.. there's plenty of info and stuff on www.insanelymac.com and www.osx86scene.comYou can dual boot it with XP and stuff .. and .. yeah o_oI like it a bit more than Windows, except I can't game with it. So I have to walk my fat ass over to my dads comp to play games now o_o - There's no more worrying about viruses from porn , your comp doesn't become slow after installing tons of stuff, I like Garageband/Logic Studio/Final Cut (Yes you can still get pirated apps for a Mac ) - I think it's a lot easier to use than stuff like Fruity Loops and Premiere. Blah blah blah .. fucking blah. o_oAlso, I don't want stuff like APPLE IS TEH SUCK. Windows isn't exactly godly either. They both have their ups and downs.Oh and not everyones comp will work with this if you're interested. You're going to need at least an SSE2 Intel CPU and a compatible GPU and network card.. ect o.oMy specs are (works 100%, except I had to dig for kexts for my X1600PRO AGP)MB - ASUS P4P800-E DeluxeCPU - Intel P4 HT 3.0GHz S478GPU - Diamond ATi Radeon X1600PRO 512MB AGPRAM - Corsair something DDR 2GB (4x512mb)SND - Onboard Realtek AC'97DVD - Optiarc DVD-ROM 16xHDD - Maxtor 160GB ATA - WD 500GB S-ATAETH - Intel Pro 100 VEo_OO_o-O-o-4211337
Guest Fohacidal Posted February 12, 2008 Microsoft has a monopoly on things, which is why Apple will never get the praise it deserves in the computer and OS section.
niC- 9 Posted February 12, 2008 Indeed it does .. also I think Apple is a bit overpriced too.Like the other day I was building something with 1GB of RAM standard.. it costed $150ish (i think) to upgrade to 2GB.. but to upgrade to 4GB from 2 that's +$700! WTF o_o. But yeah it's not just that.
Levyon 0 Posted February 12, 2008 Thats cool. My dad has a Mac Pro. Apple is overpriced but the costomer service is great, though why they need a "Genius" to figure out why an iPod won't turn on even when you try everything they tell you to do. Mr. Tea did a post on Mac manipulating people into thinking Macs=God. I also think Windows and Macs each have their ups and downs.
Kelso 4 Posted February 12, 2008 Meh, in my current state I would rather have a Mac than my PC just because I'm not playing games and the only thing I've really done that's mildly entertaining is Photoshopping and watching YouTube videos.
Guest some fag Posted February 12, 2008 Microsoft has a monopoly on things, which is why Apple will never get the praise it deserves in the computer and OS section. The praise it deserves? Apple deserves no praise- for all the things Microsoft has done for it (ie: invested 6 million dollars or so [in the early 90's] to prevent them from going bankrupt; pretty much gave them a good chunk of coding from Windows 3.1 [in the early 90's] to help them build a proficient operating system) their recent advertisements are purely a slap in the face to Microsoft. Their hardware sucks in comparison to most desktop computers and the only nice PCs they make are the PowerMacs, which really serve no purpose to the average consumer and are the only comparably priced Mac on the market. On top of all this, OS X is a crappy operating system with a horrible file structure with pretty much no support for much of anything other than Apple produced products. Now, for an email, music, video type of computer, it's all well and good, but far overpriced for the features, ESPECIALLY the MacBook Air.Apple deserves no praise at this point, even for the iPod (horrible quality with not much allure to them).Levyon, from personal experiences- well, I was with my friend who was getting shafted- Apple's support sucks. My friend's iMac had overheated for the 5th time- all of which, the repairs for required extensive nagging and an eventual replacement after the 3rd. Well, this time around they flat out denied repairs and replacement, EVEN THOUGH the computer was still under warranty. I wouldn't call that great customer service, though I'm sure others have had better luck, from what I've seen and heard from most, I would say that it's next to worthless. UltimateOreo 145 Posted February 12, 2008 When it comes down to it, Mac's are OK systems, user friendly, a good GUI, and a fast system, the problem is compatibility. You really can't do shit on a Mac unless it was solely designed for a Mac. It's basically like upgrading to Vista from XP x100, nothing will work on it that did on your windows system. That's an intelligent arguement that doesn't bash a specific system like Mac's commercials do.Now in hick-speak:APPLE SUCKS ASS. GET WINDOWS.

Levyon 0 Posted February 13, 2008 lol Most the people I know hate Macs with an unreal hate. I grew up with both Macs and PCs. Most people hate Macs because the OS is new to them and they don't know where everything is. I do dislike the no registry part, but then Macs let me delete stuff when I want to. PCs like to say I don't have permission on my own computer. Anyways, if you guys wanna discuss this more, I suggest finding Mr. Tea's post or creating a new one.
