Need to get specs for a gaming computer that will not need to be upgraded for 3-3 1/2 years. Need TONIGHT.

Recommended Posts

Basically my friend is getting a gaming computer and I told him I could help. I just got news today that I need the specs TONIGHT. I haven't even started and thought I had until about Christmas' to do it. There's no way I could get them in time so I need your help. AMD or Intel I don

't give a fuck, just need the box build and a good monitor, keyboard, and mouse to go with it. Thanks. Also need links to the pages of where to buy. Newegg or Amazon preferred but don't really care.

EDIT: If you didn't read the title, I need it to not need to be upgraded for 3-3 1/2 years and I don't care the price, but somewhere under $1500 would be nice.

You're gonna need to upgrade it sooner if you're only spending $1500 or less.

The cheapest component that will last a while is the RAM. Get 16+ gigs of that.

I have an EVGA GTX 670 and that should last a while. If you need more graphics power down the road, buy another one and put it in SLI. Should be down around 200 bucks by then.

Total for the parts listed below is $1159.92

I left out the case because I don't know what you or your friend like. Everything listed is from the Newegg.com website. Further down is the Sabertooth Z77 Mobo if you like that better than the one listed. I own it and I love it.

What is here should be compatible. The PSU is a 750W 80+ Gold, so you should be good there if you ever want to toss in another GTX 670.

If I missed anything or something won't work with it, please feel free to correct and slap me upside the head.

Edit: Actually, go with the Sabertooth Z77...

Edit 2: Shit I forgot Windows and an optical drive.....

He also needs a monitor

Asus VH232 Glossy- 159.99

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16824236079

I have this one, I like it. Only downside is it takes longer to display an image after turning on than my old pos Dell. But it's all god so far for me.

OR you can get him

SAMSUNG B300 Series S23B300B 140

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16824001546

Friend of mine got it, has reported no issues on that monitor. I love it, except for the inability to adjust it via tilt.

Mouse/Mousepad: Something steel series, check the other thread please.

Keyboard: Mitch Recommends something similar to this http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,tenkeyless&pid=fc200rlab

I personally like having a keypad, but Mitch swears by tenkeyless leopold keyboards

You could totally build a 5 year gaming computer for under $1500 if you didnt include monitor and didnt give a shit about sound.

Dont listen to these guys.

Feel free to suggest a build for under $1500 that won't need upgrades for 5 years. Like I said above, he might have to throw another video card on there and maybe more RAM, but that will be somewhat cheap.

Also, I assumed he has a monitor he could use plus mouse/keyboard.

$230 - Intel Core i5 2500k

$150 - Mobo

$40 - 8 GB Mem Kit

$50 - Case

$60 - Power Supply

$60 - Hard Drive

$30 - CD/DVD Drive

= $590 Basic Parts

$1500 - $590 = buy yourself an $800 gfx card?

this shit aint hard, upgrade your hard drive space to whatever you want

like i said, cost of monitors and speakers are where it gets personal and pricey, IF you want it to

SLI isn't that good if the game doesn't support it, just buy a very good GFX card then you don't need any "SLI"

What games today or tomorrow don't support SLI ??

You know what, I actually don't know. I'm going to stop talking now :/

Roflstomp what sand got in your vagina. Seriously you seem to think just because 1 website shows the cheapest parts for a build means I don't actively look at what I'm throwing into the machine. If you took more than 3 seconds to parse over it and then proceed to neg rep a fairly decent build you would see that the website shows more than just parts but also several other things highly relevant to any system build including benchmarks and wattage needed for the system. I pray for the unlucky woman that decides to breed with you.

Anyways, if I was around to actually give Brownies advice, it would've been much more in-depth than spitting out parts. I've had quite a few people message me about parts and what not, and it takes a thorough questioning and picking the parts around his/her needs for a computer. Such questions include:

-Are you going to overclock?

-If so, how high are you planning on taking your parts?

-Is the rig going to be specifically for gaming, or is it going to be used for something like video editing as well?

-Do you care about tidiness of cables?

-Would you pick a case for functionality, or looks?

-Side window, mesh, or solid panel

-How important are load times in games?

-(Minority) Are you going to be using strictly Windows, or Linux as well?

-Liquid cooling or air-cooled?

-If liquid, how complex of a loop?

-CPU only

-CPU+GPU

-System loop

So my point stands, sans the vaginal sand. You look like you could use some vagina bacon, though.

A.) Brownies didn't ask for any of that B.) Gave the vague details only alluding to didn't care what it was only that it was under 1,500 C.) Air-cooled brah not liquid. D.) He detailed that this was a gaming rig in the initial post E.) OBVIOUSLY Windows since Linux is still weighed down by having to use WINE to play most games unless they have a native Linux version for them F.) He only cared about the parts and prices nothing about Case, Keyboard, Mouse or Monitor G.) notevenmad.jpg

ninjedit:: YOU DIDNT EVEN READ HIS FUCKING FIRST POST. RE-READ THEN REFER BACK TO ENTIRE THREAD WHERE WE ARE SIMPLY ALL GIVING HIM PARTS NOT REASONS FOR PARTS.
