Tech question?

Recommended Posts

Okay so i am not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers, i mean i pretty much know where everything goes in a pc but don't ask me anymore....

anyway right now my PC has 8 GB of ram and i would like to get more, but i dont know if there is something else i would need to get.... basically what i am asking is if I pick up 4 sticks of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231489... will i have any problems

Might seem like a stupid question and i am pretty sure i can add ram without having to upgrade anything else but I thought I might aswell make sure.

any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Most RAM manufacturers have a tool on their website that shows you what kind of RAM your computer can support, but yes, you can just take out the old RAM and put in new RAM. Don't have to upgrade anything.

Barring the fact that your link is messed up (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231489) you need to figure out if your motherboard not only supports 8GB DIMMs, but if it can use that much RAM. Also, what generation of DDR it uses, DIMMs supported by your motherboard, and correct voltages. Have fun! :)

Look up your motherboard on the manufacturer website. They should list what ram is supported.
