Map download time

whenever I join ttt (just installed gmod) I have to download a new map and it takes so long to actually download for me the next map begins before the map finishes downloading. That's why I'm downloading and installing the maps manually. Im wondering if there is anything to be done to make the d.l process faster?

Well, these isn't much do do about your internet speed unless you can afford a better ISP. Otherwise, you can use Tuneup Utilities to make sure your computer is cleared of all the trash that you might have sitting around uselessly in random files. I must admit, a good friend of mine showed it to me and it really cleaned up my computer of the broken file links and unused locations. If you wish to improve performance, this takes a while, and aside from defragmentation (Which this also has the option to do), it can probably aid in decreasing the time it takes to start up your computer as well.

It is not your internet speed.

Its sources shitty 100 kb/s cap on all uploads from the server.

So if 5 people dling a map from server,they get 25 kb/s each.

As for tuneup util it does not do much.

Defragementing your HDD is reccommended but wont do much for this issue.

Yeah, the fast download serv, if one is being used, is atrocious. That's the issue. I remember downloading casino took me like 20 mins.

I can check if the server has a fastDL later...

If you want to do it yourself type sv_fast in console and it should suggest something like sv_fastdownloadurl and if that is blank then there is no FastDL

Yeah it's not a client side issue, it's server side. I was trying to join TTT while it was on ttt_vessel and gave up because of a 10 minute wait to dl almost nothing

I remember that too, but now that it's 15 years later, I expect better.

It's because FastDL isn't set up on the new box yet. I had to disable it because of the cache problem. As soon as we get the new fastdl sync script set up, downloads won't be that bad.

I remember I used to wait hours downloading stuff for TFC servers. 10 minutes is nothing .

Used to play this cracked ages ago(Years) and it was a damn great game but downloads were legendarily slow.
