Trouble sleeping

Recommended Posts

So over the passed couple weeks i've had an awful time sleeping. A lot has been going on in my life like me moving, finals and some other stuff. Before all of this i normally fell asleep at around 10:45-11 ( i am still a child :P) but now i can't sleep and when i do its around 2-3 am. My parents believe its stress and they're trying to help me, does anyone know how i can fall asleep faster? I don't plan on taking drugs to help so do not bring it up.

Sorry to tell you kid but the only thing I know to help you would be weed. Though you could try Lazy Cakes. Its like a mock of pot brownie (It has no weed in it so don't ask). I believe you can get them at just about any gas station and its a brownie with shit in it thats supposed to relax you and whatnot. I've never tried 'em but my buddy has and he said they work for that.

Not a drug per se, the ingredient that it claims "relaxes" is Melatonin, your body naturally produces it to fall asleep, if you drink one of these you definitely will get tired (dependency issues could arise, if you drink too much too often, but that would take you drinking it every day for like a few weeks)

also, you could exercise when it's getting late, work yourself tired.

Over the summer I plan on trying this:

I know it may be dangerous, but I myself fall asleep anywhere from 10 pm to 4 am just to get up at 6:30 am for school. I'd say try working out for a while or something to release any pent-up energy, perhaps a jog around your neighborhood or 200 pushups/situps/jumping jacks, I know it is "hard" and "work" but it certainly helps while getting you that much close to a 10 pack ;0

Ok, do this, listen carefully. I use to have these same problems too.

If it's related to stress, find something that can de-stress you or ware you down through the day. This may be anything from doing cardio, or simply keeping yourself busy with something that takes your mind away from stress. Make sure to get at least 15mins of sunlight a day(this does help). Make sure to eat a balanced diet, meaning don't lack any nutrition, as this might affect your sleep. For doing cardio, make sure to get 20mins of some sort of exercise in every couple days, otherwise your body will have a lot of stored energy. A long with all of this, try to especially drink a good amount of water before sleeping, as being even slightly deprived can keep you from falling asleep. Last, but not least, make sure to not try and sleep for more then 20mins. If you can't fall asleep after 20mins, then get up, and do something that will calm you down, rather this be watching an episode of a show, reading, or simply fapping to gay porn.

I use to spend 3 hours falling asleep sometimes, every now and then I do. So I eventually learned on ways that helped me.

Download "A state of trance episode 401".

Buy a pillow that plays music.

Put the episode on via music pillow.

Lie dead bloody still with your eyes closed and concentrate on nothing in paticular.

Worked for me.

Get more exercise well before you plan on sleeping. Take melatonin every night. It will take a few days to really give its full effect.

Okay but on the serious side, exercise is great, but specific times aren't really needed. Exercise to exhaustion, as well as relieving your stressed mind by focusing on the burn, it will develop a tiredness that will beat you down for a day or two, helping your body adjust to your old sleeping schedule again. Also try and refrain from activity after 10:30 or 11, try laying down on a couch or doing homework/reading a school book in your bed. I hope you rid yourself of this habit. I'm in highschool too, stressing over finals and such. we just have to finish hard in these next few weeks left. You are not alone my friend.

The exercise and melatonin stuff. Plus the music is a good idea, if you fall asleep to music I'd suggest slow relaxing music, with a constant beat, or something, nothing with loud surprises in it that may stir you awake. I personally love Japanese relaxation music. Things like that really relax you for sleep, or at least for me, I've never had to take any kind of supplements or drugs to sleep.

Often I find it hard to sleep when it is unbearably hot, my solution to this usually is to lay on my back in my bed, get an ice cube, and place it right on the little indent in your chest, right around your sternum and above your solar plexus. Shit cools me down and relaxes me right into sleep.

I did the Uberman Bonana

It's awesome. The one I did was slightly diff, but same concept. Only I ended up fucking myself over about 2mo after I started doing it and am now back on a regular (albeit still shorter) sleep schedule...next time I have a week or two, I'm going to reset :)

This may be somewhat redundant and risky advice but I would only attempt falling asleep once your body is telling you that its tired since it maximizes your time and sleeping productivity. From my experience, that usually forces the body into deep sleep and that is the sleeping stage where you gain energy for the next day.

Over the summer I plan on trying this:

Funny, I actually had a somewhat polyphasic sleeping schedule like that one last summer. School forced me to revert back to a somewhat monophasic one but it was well worth it considering the extra amount of time I got.

Usually when my sleeping schedule is mest up i stay up the entire day and night so I'd be able to fall asleep at night the next day. Otherwise exercise definately can help make you tired enough to just pass out when yur head hits the pillow depending on what you did. Another method is risky and can possably cause brain damage so not reccomended. Frying pan to the head.
