What apps do you use? I want to turn my phone in to a texting MP3 player, so I use Go SMS and Winamp (which is the best media player I've used thus far due to the nice looking interface and ease of use) and it works quite well. I play the fuck out of Crush the Castle, Doodle Jump, Angry Birds and Dope Wars, and I have a bunch of utility apps that I abuse.

List of apps:

AlarmDroid

3G Watchdog (the notification icon is amazing)

Go SMS

ADW.Launcher

Opera Mobile

Where's My Droid (The "dude, i lost my phone, can you call it?" trick on steroids.)

Advanced Task Manager

Antivirus Free

appinstaller (Best one I've found)

ES File Explorer

Winamp

-Rooting Shit-

z4root

Terminal Emulator

DroidWall (not really rooting, but requires root)

My friend with an Evo says Juice Defender is pretty helpful.

I have an EVO and I can confirm this.

I use ASTRID TASKS for a quick notepad whenever I need to jot down some thoughts.

I like mint.com as well (checks balances on bank accounts) on the go, so I can make sure I have enough money before I buy something.

Apps Organizer is amazing, helps clean my shit up.

WinAmp is also fantastic, although the search function is shit sometimes.

UrbanDictionary for laughs on the go.

Dropbox is useful to make sure you have some file on dropbox before you leave home.

Facebook.

Lookout - Anti Virus/Lost Phone/Backup protection. :)

Bump is cool.

Google goggles is cool.

Urbanspoon is nice when I'm trying to find a restaurant for friends.

I have a couple other apps I use, but it depends on what I need at the time.

Instead of Antivirus and the "dude where's my phone" look into Lookout. Has a GPS locator, antivirus, active protection. App 2 SD is a good app for saving phone space. I use SMSBackup as well. Advanced Task Killer is essential. For news and shit I just subscribe to RSS feeds through Twitter and use Tweetdeck. Dropbox has an Android app too. For remote torrenting, I use Transdroid. There's a Keepass mobile too. Arity is a nice calculator. Also, for a decent calender widget, I use SmoothCalender.

I use ADW too, I've tried a few different custom home apps and I think ADW is my favorite. Trillian has a nice beta application out, but you have to use a sideloader to get it on your phone. Vplayer is better than the stock video player. Uninstaller makes uninstalling applications a bit easier too.

I wouldn't torrent on my data plan, but I wouldn't mind having a program to remote in to my PC. Is that a remote program? Or a full fledged torrent client.

My phone is basically a duplicate of that. If it doesn't have a keyboard, then we have the same phone (except the bottom of mine is a bit slimmer and the buttons are smaller).

lg_vortex_for_sale.jpg

You bet your ass mine has a custom ROM installed and custom Recovery image flashed.

It's a remote application for uTorrent on my PC. It's not a direct torrent App. Basically if I'm away and my PC is on, and I have RSS set up on uTorrent, I can flip through the RSS links for my respective torrent sites and remotely tell uTorrent to start downloading them as I please. Alternatively, you could also browse the torrent sites on your phone, download the .torrent link to your phone, and then tell uTorrent to download based on that.

There are also remote desktop apps-- I didn't feel like dealing with the pain in the ass of setting up a more advanced one, so I got a cracked version of LogMeIn Ignition and I use that for remote desktop shit from my phone.
