AnarchyX6942 0 Posted October 11, 2007 Everytime I google something, I get the results page, but when I click on a link from that, it always takes me to one of those shitty add sites. If you close it and reclick the link, it does it once more and then the third time it will open it. Anyone know wtf is up?
Ethyl Methyl Phail 1 Posted October 11, 2007 Sounds like spyware. If you can try doing a system restore a point where you know the problem didn't exist. This could solve it if you had installed some program which may be causing the issue. Or try un/reinstalling Firefox. If that doesn't work, then try a series of spyware scans (e.g. Ad-Aware, Hijackthis, Spyware Doctor, etc.). No guarantee as some spyware may be difficult to remove. CaptainDell 2 Posted October 11, 2007 Don't Download Porn From Websites.Use like DC++ or another share program. Like O Rly said, sounds like spyware. Ya might want to get something like Spybot: Search and Destroy. It is a pretty good program for protecting your computer from hijackings.

Ethyl Methyl Phail 1 Posted October 12, 2007 try getting CC Cleaner, works wonders for my computer, and it works really fastAnother excellent FREE program. Good for cleaning out junk files, but probably won't do much with spyware problems.

Like this one jackass at my university wanted to know the address to the hub so he emailed the entire school asking for it, including faculty, staff, etc. Long story short, he was never heard from again.... He wasn't killed, just got the hell out of here.
Jimmyup 0 Posted October 12, 2007 ive never used dc++i know its some file sharing program.. never talk of it? why.. illegal?
CaptainDell 2 Posted October 13, 2007 ive never used dc++i know its some file sharing program.. never talk of it? why.. illegal? It is perfectly legal as long as you connect to servers in Czechloslovaki or however its spelled. Sweden too. They are countries that wont give your IP to the US government
Ethyl Methyl Phail 1 Posted October 13, 2007 I mainly say never speak of it because like all file sharing programs it is questionable, especially since the I&IT department try to crack down on file sharing (of course). So people try to keep it on the down-low. Anyways, any success with the spyware removal Anarchy?
AnarchyX6942 0 Posted October 13, 2007 Naw, Adaware doesn't find anything. Ill prolly get Search and Destroy, but I'm using IE till then...
lame 0 Posted October 19, 2007 Doesn't Direct Connect use a local connection over the university network?I know when I went to college we had it until the RIAA started cracking down. I think they shut it down in 2004 or 2005.why.. illegal? There's nothing inherently illegal about sharing files or file sharing programs.
