One of the main reasons i stray away from consoles and buy only PC's, is the tendency they have, to fuck up. They are expensive, and are only made to last through that generation, and then they make you buy a NEW one (PS1 -> PS2 -> PS3 Etc.) PC's last forever if you upgrade them and take care of them, I mean yeah you may have to buy a new case once in a while to support the bigger cards and PCU's and shit but that's it. I stuck an 8800 GT 512 MB in my stock HP Pavillion and it runs like never before (bottlenecking, I'm sure, can't afford a CPU atm though, and my motherboard doesn't support it.)

My advice: Buy a desktop, trash that laptop, and fuck consoles. (I understand money issues, but you will spend just as much on a console, as you would upgrading your computer. BUT, you need to upgrade far, far less often so there is a few advantages in it.)

Consoles are not expensive, the PS3 could be considered expensive, but the 360 and Wii are dirt cheap...

it only cost 700$ for what a 360 can do.

Easily. PCs have WAAAY more capabilities than a console has. Greatest example: L4D. On the console, that thing looks like a piece of crap, but on PC looks a lot cleaner.

FPS on PC > FPS on Console

Fact.

---------

But if you still have warranty on your 360 you can send it in and get a replacement but if you dont you can try this fix kit from llamma:

http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/ring_...x-clamp_fix.htm

I used it on my first generation 360 and its been playing without a hitch since.

I like PCs better than consoles. I have used consoles for most of my life, and after I got a gaming computer, life is much better.

PC's are generally better if you usually game alone.

I have a XBox 360, because I usually play video games with my girlfriend, and she's not really into the shoot and kill type games.

Majority of my friends also have XBox Live, so I'd like to play with them.

It's based on personal preference on what you need and want.

I'm more social than competitive, so I play on XBox Live.

I don't even have a working rig anymore, as most of you know, and I don't plan on getting a new one soon.

No boss, it is fact that you could build a PC with more, or equal power as a Xbox 360 or PS3 for under $700. You just have to know what to buy. There is no chance in hell it would cost more than $3000. I could build $1500 computer that beats both consoles combined. An opinion would be that you prefer the Xbox 360 over a PC. Not that you could build a PC system with equal power for under $X.

Also can we drop the red and horrid font?

I would really love to see proof of that, remembering that a PS3 or 360 could definitely have played Crysis when it first came out easily, but back then a $700 computer would just just lag rendering the menu. Hell even 2 years ago when I first built this computer it cost me around 1500, twice that I payed for my PS3 and It had a hard enough time running Crysis on all high...

You have to realize that the 360 & PS3 ~30FPS. So in order to outpreform/equal that, I'd use one of these two setups.

P6T X58 SE - $209.00

i7 920 C0 Stepping - $279.99

EVGA GTX275 896MB - $239.99

G.Skill DDR3-1066 3x1GB - $54.99

Antec EA650w - $90.00

Total: $873.97

This is however using the i7 core, you could shave ~$150 by going with these two items instead:

Intel Core2 Quad Q8200 -$159.99

EVGA 132-CK-NF78-TR - $164.99

EVGA GTX275 896MB - $239.99

Corsair DDR2-1066 2x2GB $70.00

Antec EA650w - $90.00

Total: $724.97

Done. This is only looking at Newegg.com, and all prices are in USD. I'm sure you could save a bit more if you looked at other stores as well.

EDIT: I should also add that if you add a good CPU heatsink to the CPUs (a Prolimatech Megahelm @$59.99 would be my choice) overclock the 920 to ~3.6GHz (4 is possible on the megahelm cooler, but if you know what you are doing. 3.6 should be easy), or the Q8200 to ~3.4GHz. Then change the parts to what I have below and you have a computer capable of ~50-60 FPS on Crysis at high detail on 1900x1200. Oh, I should add the Saphire HD4870x2 is around the same as, or just under the GTX 295. It is the 2nd most powerful single card on the market right now.

P6T X58 - $209.99

i7 920 C0 Stepping (OC to 3.6GHz+) - $279.99

Prolimatech Megahelm w/ 120mm Yate Loons or Deltas - ~$70.00

Sapphire Radeon HD 4870x2 2GB - $379.99

G.Skill DDR3-1066 3x1GB -$54.99

Corsair TX850w - $139.99

Total: $1134.95

Intel Core2 Quad Q8200 (OC to 3.4GHz+) -$159.99

EVGA 132-CK-NF78-TR - $164.99

Prolimatech Megahelm w/ 120mm Yate Loons or Deltas - ~$70.00

Sapphire Radeon HD 4870x2 2GB - $379.99

Corsair DDR2-1066 2x2GB $70.00

Corsair TX850w - $139.99

Total: $984.96

Happy Foh?

To bad your not counting in the fact many of that stuff has depreciated since the 360 and PS3 has come out, it may not have even been open on the market when the 360 came out

Ya, build me a system with prices from when a PS3 came out and tell me if it is still comparable today. It wont be, I know for a fact my 8800 GTS was around 500-600 bucks alone when I built my computer 2.5 years ago, shortly after I got my PS3

Computer ALWAYS outdate themselves in months wookie, consoles only outdate themselves every generation interval which takes several years, that and consoles dont always "outdate" themselves like PCs do, just look at the PS2, longest surviving console of all time and its still getting announcements for stuff at E3 and still selling a lot
