Sourcemod announcement.

Recommended Posts

Today marks a big day in the way we will be able to manage our admins and log their actions. NO MORE will you have to wonder why you were randomly banned from the server; NO MORE will you have to wonder who did it, or for how long, due to our new SourceMod installation! A few weeks back, after some "unrest," we had a few of things that we wanted to kickstart, and SourceMod was one of the major projects of our "Server Work" section of some of the clan's reformations. Sourcemod will officially replace Mani Admin, particularly because Mani has been discontinued and Sourcemod continues to build on its already fantastic versatility and community support. Sourcemod will allow us to do a lot of cool things with the servers, and continue to build the great experience that =(UV)= servers bring.

One of the fantastic features of Sourcemod is it's plugin system, easily allowing us to constantly update settings and introduce new systems into the servers. One of the great systems that was a no-brainer for =(UV)= was a system called "Source Bans." Source Bans is a system that allows us to easily manage our admins by keeping track of the duration/reasons of their bans to what their favorite color is (That might be a bit of a stretch, but you get the point). This will also allow us to track players in the server much more easily, and track the constant trouble makers so we can better administrate our servers.

- To access our Sourcebans webpanel and view all of our ban information, please visit this link-

In order to make this transition as smooth as possible, we are including every accessible command for the Basic and Senior admin packages. This page- Admin Commands is a FANTASTIC resource for all of the console commands, and while you may not have access to all of them, you may want to run some things through console. Please save that page, it will be your holy grail!

Tonight, we will be moving all of the admins to the new SourceMod system. We are only moving paying admins and staff to the new system, so please, take Phoenix2's advice!

If you do not have an active admin subscription, you must sign up for one if you wish to keep your admin rights. This only applies to those who have canceled and/or have payment issues but still retain admin rights.

Undead Vengeance is a 100% non-profit, donation-based community. Your active subscriptions are donations to this community. They ensure the continued upkeep and improvement of the services we pay for that fuel your need for vengeance, drama, and that all-elusive, unquenchable thirst for lols we all desire.

Good news, good news.

Question about the submission part.

By using that, we don't have a public viewing of whom we think may or may not be hacking. It will cut down on the number of reports posts, true, but it will also limit who sees the videos.

Or, is this to be used in conjunction with the report forum?

I believe both will be used. We wouldn't want to force you to use only one method, although we highly recommend trying the SourceBans demo submission tool. It's kinky. ^_^

I believe that things such as reports should be kept confidential. Though there are certain situations warranting community input, the bulk of which do not.

It doesn't take this entire community and their mother to analyze a recorded demo to determine the outcome. Complaint threads to me are more of a community abused change slot with everyone getting in line to jam down their two cents. It's completely unnecessary to use this type of system. We have a great team of some twelve odd staff members capable of attaining such decisions.

Awesome news! What's even more awesome is the fact that we're getting Deathrun!!! I'm so glad we're finally getting some new servers along with fantastic new updates. Keep up the good work guys! I have a few maps and suggestions for the DR server, I'll post them when the time is right.

question about admin though. will the command to cancel a vote be added to the available list of commands?

Basically, the reason why I am doing this is because there are some events where community input really isn't needed.

If somebody is hacking, we've got 7 people to double check. Though if somebody is admin abusing, it's always handy to get a couple of points of views and eye-witnesses.
