The key to staying protected is having a fully patched OS, not just staying away from harmful websites, just like you need to look after yourself to be healthy, you need to do the same for a computer, it must be maintained with effort, not just left to rot.

Surprise, surprise. Only people who are retarded and don't know about security for their computer are at risk to the Conficker virus.

I've had so many people mention this at work and my response has always been: The way I see it, the whole "Conficker virus" thing is going to be a lot like the Y2K scare - A whole lot of not much at all.

I agree with Panda, people have been talking about this for the last few weeks in my area, and honestly if you have a decent anti-virus, and keep your computer even somewhat up to date, nothing will happen. I could see this being nothing more than just some april fools prank by some hot shot kid.

That's DEFIANTLY not all you need. CCleaner is NOT an anti virus, though I love it and use it, it just cleans you registry, online history, and unused files. You need malware protection and an anti virus.

Were doing morning announcements on TV now and me and a friend asked the teacher in charge to put in Never Gonna Give You Up in them, never panned out. My school r too kewl for the interbutts.

If your Internet or Firefox or any other browser won't let you get to www.norton.com(or any other serious virus detector website)... you got the virus... I think that is the only way you can find out if you got the virus or not...

Well i tested to see if this virus was bullshit. SO i was watching porn all day, even had it running while i was surfing the internet, going on myspace, downloading some torrentz, youtubing. And yea, i did basically all things i can to try and get the virus, clicking on popups, going to untrusted sites :axehead:, btw thier is this program called EConfickerRemover, download it off some website, and it pops up a black like bois screen and says, if u have the virus in your memory or something. And it says i dont have it, my computer is running really good today so yaa.
