  1. Hey guys, as the title says I just bought a PS3 off of Craigslist. So far I have picked up MAG and MGS4, and I also intend to pick up Infamous at some point as well. Does anyone have any suggestions for exclusives that I should play?

    Also, my PSN nickname is Deofuta, feel free to add me :P

  2. Welcome to the Syndicate Gaming forums!

    To Apply for sG memberships, you will need to have been on the forum for two weeks, and have a minimum of 100 posts. For more information on that see this thread

    On a more personal note, there are several things you can do right now to aid your chance of getting in!

    1. Don't spam, your posts are small and contain little information.

    2. Don't spam! You've made a number of threads in different areas with again, little information.

    3. Learn English fluently, or at least a basic level. We enjoy sentences and punctuation.

    Do the above changes and you stand a great chance of making into the community some day!

  3. Used to play Mortal Online, was quite fun as long as my attention lasted. I'll be resubbing to WoW in the fall, so that will tide me over for MMO's. Ive tried quite a few of them, none have held my attention for very long. Although Planetside 2 could quite possibly be one of my favorite experiences to date. Can't wait until it releases.

  4. Its all about the Drake Equation.

    The Drake equation states that:

    N = R* x Fp x Ne x Fe x Fi x Fc x L

    where:

    N = the number of civilizations in our galaxy with which communication might be possible;

    and

    R* = the average rate of star formation per year in our galaxy

    fp = the fraction of those stars that have planets

    ne = the average number of planets that can potentially support life per star that has planets

    fℓ = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop life at some point

    fi = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop intelligent life

    fc = the fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space

    L = the length of time for which such civilizations release detectable signals into space.

    In 1961, Drake decided to use the folowing values: N = 10 × 0.5 × 2 × 1 × 0.01 × 0.01 × 10,000 = 10.

    (These remain a point of hot contention among astronomers)

    Certainly one of the coolest things I learned in AST.

    Wikipedia has some interesting calculations for it, check them out here.

  5. From the sources (Berkeley, New York Times) Ive read it sounds like most of it is rather drab database content, pdf documents, non html documents, blog posts, comments, and private discussions on various social networking sites. The idea that most of it is cool and exciting seems to be more of an urban myth.

  6. I'm not sure how to check which one you are using. However, to change it you simply add on of the following to your launch options in steam.

    -dxlevel 95 for DirectX 9c

    -dxlevel 90 for DirectX 9

    -dxlevel 81 for DirectX 8.1

    Supposedly you could even use directx 7, but its quite buggy.

  7. Luna has always been devastating vs new characters who dont know how to deal with her. Stick together, and nuke the fuck out of her, and all of the sudden she is much less of a threat.
