  1. Suddenly Zan's mic works again.... we shall see how this develops. Not my idea to toss him aside cause he "had no mic" and carefully selects who is allowed to be in the room for the occasional mic born word.

Some are selecting based on who they think they can work with. That's where a lot of people get knocked out too. Not that it would be bad to have a contending opinion on matters, but stubborn annoying bastards just don't work out. We've got crazy, we've got stubborn, we've got know it alls, we've have/had power freaks, we've had double standards and we have had entitlement complexes. We try to pick those who want to help and not everyone can get picked everytime. Not everyone that certain people think should be it can be it. Some members are so caught up in their niche that they forget others even exist and think that their niche mates are always the best for everything. We've done better with variety in leaders and ultimately, it has resulted in more leaders playing on more servers than they used to.

Some of those upset have been on the short list and then blown it with massive flame fests, falling off the face of the earth, admin abusing, becoming disrespectful and the like. Many who now think they or someone else should have been picked have had bad timing. When we decide it is easy to narrow it down if someone is on the shit list that week. Not that our leaders have never been on that list..... At this point, timing is key and we have tried to do better with logging people we have observed. This logging allows better tracking of performance over time rather than the 3 days or 1 week we normally have to search and decide. The logging will give us the tools to look back on someone we thought was good one day and maybe another day and another. This way good deeds and helpful actions won't go unnoticed. Some of these picks came from that very list, but it is still new and not fully matured. That list gets better with time and is still being added to and edited....RIGHT NOW.

Just because you don't see merit in a candidate doesn't mean we didn't. Just because you see merit in a candidate doesn't mean we do. We aren't everywhere and we aren't everyone. We aid our memory with the log and edit as observations and opinions change. With the log we get a better picture, we all do. Before each leader had their own candidates in mind and their own view. Now with a collective list we can all see what every other one sees. It gives us more eyes and a HIVE MIND. It makes the process better, albeit not perfect. No seletion is perfect, no criterion is fair to all under all circumstances. Sometimes it is the little things that can take you out of the running.

The selections will never be perfect. Even with a voting system someone will be pissed off. Also, not everyone who seems to have been overlooked was overlooked. Oreo contacts the potential candidates ahead of time and yes, some do refuse. We had an incident in the past where the community was up in arms and absolutely pissed that a member was overlooked for promotion. It was just like this, lots of threads, xfires to P2, bitching in the servers. All of this because of a misunderstanding. Where the community saw someone passed over there was someone who had refused the position because they did not feel that they had the time to do it justice. The person was everything the leadership wanted AND what a good deal of the community wanted, but did not have the time. The refusal is of course kept confidential at the time and not usually released to the public (only final candidates are released to the public)

A few months later promotion time came around again and the candidate was approached again. This time the candidate took the position. It made the community and the leaders happy. That process repeated one more time for another promotion.

It doesn't always come around the first time for whatever reason. Those that truly deserve it would theoretically get it eventually. The idea is to always be in our minds and the community's mind as the one to be promoted. Some still are and some are really good at getting knocked off that list.

Note: The candidate that refused JCS AND ADV the first time: Eagle

  2. The selection process is not always perfect. I see many regulars upset and our intent is not to ignore or overlook you. No matter who we pick, we always leave someone out. I am amazed by the few (and shall remain unnamed) that always pop out of the woodwork to bitch about not being picked and then dissappear until the next round. Next round comes and the come out of the woodwork after a long absence, bitch and then dissapear. Next round comes....you get the idea.

The choice is always made from who can be most helpful to us now. It was around this time the last time after we announced new leaders where people were asked to remain orderly and not act in a manner which would give us doubts about them for future selections. Each time there is one or two that goes too far and ultimately ruins their chances.

JCS are promoted from the most helpful and active of the advisor staff.

Advisors are always tougher because of the size of the community to pick from. The question is not why did we not pick you for advisor, but why was it you could possibly be overlooked? If you sit expectant of the position and are not in fact unoverlookable....then how sure can you be that we will pick you. Its not always about having the most time or the most skills (although they help). It is about being here for the community and not for yourself. If one has oneself in mind the whole time he or she thinks about a leadership position....then they are not destined to be a leader. Those that think about the community in their daily participation are those that consitute the most effective leadership in the world.

Many were close to being selected. Those that were close all thought about and acted for the community. There are only so many slots and therein lies the tie breaker. When left with community oriented people who are alike in so many ways we must ultimately use their participation as a selection tool. It is not the first criterion, it is the last. Time in the clan comes in around participation, but what good is 2 years in the clan if we hardly see you, or if no one that joined in the past few months even knows you?

Don't cry when you aren't selected. Be the person that we can't possibly ignore for leadership. Often the best selections we have made have not been from those who expected the position, it has been from those that were surprised and humbled to get it.

-Try to be surprised some time, will ya?

Also, Zan is routinely removed from the running because he has gone over a year with a "broken" microphone. We require recruits to have and use mics, the standard applies for leaders as well. As long as Zan's mic is "broken" and he refuses to talk on a regular basis with his real non-transformed voice....he will be stuck.

Wtf? Wookie just got ADV and now he's a JCS just like that? And Wtf is with this new ADV, beautiful caos only has 300 posts? You guys are getting ridiculous (–adjective causing or worthy of ridicule or derision; absurd; preposterous; laughable: a ridiculous plan.) with these picks. How about picking someone with a backbone that won't just agree with everything that's thrown at them.

Don't go bleeding all over the forums just because Wookie buttraped you once. Chill out, you didn't seem so pissed about these picks until after wookie warned you. The list was deliberated over and not only did we get these picks, but we have most of the next ones too. A lot of people missed out by a narrow margin. Those we picked we think have the time, enthusiasm and ability to do well in the positions we have chosen them for. Granted this system may not be perfect and someday that may change. But today...it is what it is and they are who they are.

  4. Ok, here we go.

Laptop's Desktop (17 inch screen, sometimes I dual screen it, but with the desktop now, there is no need to)

Desktop's Desktop (24 inch monitor, which PS3, XBOX360 and Laptop can all use also)

As you can see from this one....I am not lying when I say I am watching all of you from my nest.... (Hobo is noting the coordinates of this nest now)

They both run at 1920x1200 right now. Thinking of switching the 24" to Dual 27" Displays.

I can't hit anything anywhere. But everyone else can no problem.

If its an isolated problem, then it is most likely not the server, but something with your setup. It seems like you have tried just about everything. Unless this problem is widespread across the population on the new box, I don't see how we could conclude that it was a server error.

This box processes at a higher and more efficient rate. The shot registry is much improved. We can check for errors, but google those CSS forums for a solution in case there is nothing we can do.

lol i got better processor ram hdd and i got dual gigbit lans. but thanks for the ips

You have something that's better than an octocore running at 3.0 ghz? This hdd doesn't have to do much except hold maps and stats, doesn't need to be a 15K raptor for our purposes. The ram is more than enough, we have barely used a fraction of it with the servers on it now. Linux works wonders for ram (not like windows that camps on 3/4 of the ram)

Also, I have been told that I can not post anymore. I am at 1337 posts and that just needs to stay that way!

What a coincidence. Beautiful Chaos's page was about this long, while male members usually don't get 5 posts. Something is fishy.

Indeed. Its as if there are magnets there someplace that draw them here. If you have them...they will come.

    Its entertaining to watch though.

At this pace...chaos' thread is gonna lose its record.
