  1. AMD just hit their sweet spot too. My proc dropped from a steady $150 to $110.

While I do think AMD is awesome for keeping something on a budget, I see it as this:

I'm extremely skeptical about AMD being able to truly compete with Intel. The fact is, while it sucks that intel keeps changing their CPU sockets, they are doing it for good reason. AMD's attempt to ensure backwards compatibility has greatly hindered their ability to achieve great leaps in their technology, given that they have chosen to impose the limitations posed by the processor sockets in developing new CPU architecture and hardware. Intel, however, can freely design their new technology without putting such constraints on their development techs.

Considering the X79 is going to be the replacement to the x58, that should definitely prove to be some amazing tech when it gets released. But I'll hold my breath in the mean time to see how this whole bulldozer thing plays out in the coming weeks.

  2. Just wait until Bulldozer :>. Goodbye Sandy bridge.

No thanks, I could wait and see how BD does, but atm there is very little info on it so everything is mostly speculation. I'm not looking to turn this thread into Intel vs. AMD, I could care less.

  3. Spending close to $500 for a processor and motherboard makes me sad in the pants. You could get a Phenom II X6 and a high end AMD mobo for cheaper.

I'm an Intel guy, want Sandy bridge.

  4. Currently my specs are:

    Cooler Master HAF 932 Black Edition / Intel Q6600 @ 2.4ghz / XFX 9800GTX / EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI / NZXT 600W / WD 500GB 5400RPM / 4GB Kingston DDR3 1066

I'm looking to buy these parts right now (RAM and Video card will come later):

What do you guys think? Any changes you would make or am I ready to go?

  5. The dell has an advertised 8ms response time and the input lag is alot better than most cheap monitors.

I would never go by what it says on the box. there are cheap POS monitors with a advertised rating of 2ms.

    This^^

Response times are a gimmick anymore, the same with LED.

  6. No, I plan on one screen, and I have a smaller screen off to the side for itunes and such.

I was thinking of an IPS, specifically the Dell U2311H, but was worried of the lack of HDMI port, and have read reviews of a pinkish tint on half the screen.

  7. I am in the market for a new monitor, obviously for gaming, surfing the web, and the occasional photoshop. Currently I have a 22" Gateway Widescreen, looking for 23" and up, at least 1920x1080 or 1200. Price range is around $300, though $400 is tops. I've looked around, but am lost when it comes to monitors, so all suggestions are welcome.

  8. I used to be a hardcore Christian until becoming an agnostic, and recently an atheist. I realized religion wasn't what was making me do good, it was my self, my own personal drive and motives. I was Christian until I started to open my mind to different ideas, and not immediately ignore any other beliefs/ideas, and thought for myself. One quote that really speaks to me is:

  9. Anyone ever attended rookie parties for a sports team? Usually funny stories come out of them, they include excessive intake of alcohol and usually funny things which act as initiation. One we just had for ultimate was alot of fun shit but the funniest was taping bottles of vodka/other drinks to both peoples hands. They could only be removed if you finished and then a new one would be taped on. Some dude got locked in the bathroom and had to open the door with feet, also had to get friend to drop his pants.

Any funny stories from you fgts?

Also known has Edward 40 hands, very fun "game" to watch.

  10. I normally would go naked, but the back of the fascinate has a very slick surface, so it tends to drop out of my pocket easy or I drop it.

When you guys say otterbox, do you mean just the silicone sleeve Impact, or the Commuter with the hard shell as well?

  11. Normally I wouldn't use a case, but since my phone is so thin (Samsung Mesmerize/Fascinate) I don't think a case would be that much more of a burden. Plus I seem to have butter fingers when it comes to my phone and I drop it quite regularly. I've always liked the silicone ones, but worry it might be too big(I like to keep my phone in my front pocket), where as a plastic case would not protect as good, but would be slimmer. Any suggestions? I have selected a few I like for the poll.

  12. Terrorism still exists, whether or not Osama is dead or alive.

Sure we got closure - but this will be a neverending cycle of war and violence :<

    EDIT:

    Here's another one from MLK-

“I will mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”

Just so you know MLK never said that. So glad I read reddit.

  13. Many of you have seen the vast amount of tablets that are flooding the market this year. At first, I was strictly against them, mainly because of the ipad, which is essentially a glorified, oversized iphone that can't make calls. Now with tablets such as the Galaxy, Xoom, and Playbook, I've become interested.

One that really catches my eye is the Asus eee Pad Transformer. It runs Honeycomb, and has the dual core processor. It starts at $400 for the 16gb version, which really appeals to me. Also, for $150 you can get the chiklet keyboard that turns it into a netbook and extends battery life by 8 hours. I feel this device would be perfect for college.

Anyone else have some insight on the ever growing tablet market?
