*DEAD*

I've never one used any Mac OS. I have been wanting to by a mac so I can actually see what its all about and if ill even be interested in using it for good.

Had windows all my life, but I wanted something new so I got into linux and now im hooked. So overall right now, my favorite OS is Linux. So far, ive only had my experience with uBuntu so that is the one I actually like for now. Ill do testing later on and might try gentoo (hard installation), openSUSE, Fedora, Debian, etc...

So what one would you prefer?

If you're going to try and use OSX on your PC, make sure your hardware is compatible.

I had a hard time getting my video card to work with it, because it was ATi, and nobody really made kexts(i think?) for my card.

Intel and Nvidia hardware will pretty much guarantee OSX to work on your PC.

Well I decided not to use OSX. I saw a boot-up time of it on youtube when it was one the Aspire One netbook, and I wasnt too happy to see it lag a lot.

BUT! I did dual-boot my desktop and my netbook with ubuntu. God i am in love with ubuntu. Only thing I use Vista for is when I want to upload stuff to my ipod touch. And XP is now pretty much useless on my netbook because the wireless dont work since the ubuntu installation. But Wifi does work in ubuntu lol.

Just overall enjoy linux. But now I have to figure out have to install games and put it to the test by playing Counter-strike!

I would say yes, If you have a dual boot and you end up not liking unbuntu you can always just go to windows instead, When you turn on your comp you get a menu to choose between whatever OS's you have installed

I worked on ubuntu before. I enjoy it, but i also like opensuse and debian but im gonna stick with ubuntu for now for training I guess.

I might install OSX on my laptop with a XP dualboot but idk if i should do that. I heard its illegal to use OSX on PCs other than macs lol.

I figure keep Vista on my desktop, use the Shrink Volume to make a new Partition, then install uBuntu 8.04. Or a different linux if any of you think another one is better. Then on my netbook basically do the same. But that one has XP, so ill just have to use the uBuntu live CD to repartition it

So is it really worth it? The sight of Windows is really annoying me and ive been wanting to get used to linux for awhile now but I dont want to make 1 PC just linux if I cant understand it then basically have a PC in which I cannot use.

Also, like if any of you use linux, which one would you recommend for my desktop? Im pretty much set on ubuntu remix, linpus, or OSX for my netbook because it isnt a power pc lol.

Hmm... I was thinking the same thing. I guess it wouldnt hurt to go have a professional look at it. The geek squad here do free check ups so once I find out i can just replace it. The MB from that PC was old and it was only a 3.20 Celeron CPU. I might just upgrade the MB and CPU all together lol.

So about 2 years ago I built a $1000 PC. A lot of the parts didnt quite click even if those bastards at TigerDirect.com told me they did. The motherboard didnt accept the ram, and other stupid shit. Since then I never asked those fuckers if anything was compatible because they really dont know. They just sell you stuff lol.

One of the retards on the phone decided to tell me to plug my brand new Power Supply in my PC that was actually working. Well I did and it didnt turn on. Took it out and put the old one back in. Then he asked to put my old graphics in the new PC, idk why but he did. Idk what for but he did. Well. I was hooking everything back up on the old PC and nothing turned on. The Power Supply wasnt giving ANY power to the Motherboard at all. The light wouldnt even turn on. The power supply didnt turn on or any of that.

What I am asking is... Do you think its my Power Supply, or the motherboard that was fucked up during this process? I just wanna be able to fix this PC since it was the first one i built.

And one i was building for $1000 was given back and a refund because those bastards loved to fuck me over. I do not recommend TigerDirect.com. I do recommend Newegg lol.

If it was legal, our country would lose lots of money because people would still do the illegal activity and grow their own to smoke their own and nobody would even notice it unless someone ratted them out. So I think America is afraid of losing money by making it legal. If any of you read that article it explains why. Because our government makes money off arresting you guys for doing it. And they make money from the drug tests. Along with other stuff that you have to pay for because you were caught doing it lol. Such as fines.

Also, the Cartels want it to stay illegal because if its legal, they will lose their business. Its like the same reason as to why our government wont release the cures for certain diseases. If they did that, drug companies will go outta business or they wont make as much money. Therefore, it is a proven fact that most of you know... Our government is nothing but money hungry animals who will do anything to keep the money growing. So are you still proud to be an American? lol.

I listened to entire album last night. I wasn't impressed anymore.

My thoughts are that he is trying to say that there is a different style between Eminem, Marshall Mathers and Slim Shady. Because for most of the album his style was wacked by nothing but non serious songs. But only 3 songs (I believe), He went to something serious and sounded like he used to back on the MMLP.

His style on Slim Shady LP was too wacked for my ears, but he had some great songs on there. Marshall Mathers LP he had most of it serious and it was the best album he has made. The Eminem Show was good. Most of the album had shit that you can take to heart. Encore was his downfall. God that sounded retarded. The only song I liked as a serious was Mocking Bird. The funny songs i liked was Ass like that, and Just lose it. Curtain Close had the song When Im gone that i liked. Also liked Toy Soldiers but i dont think the album that had that song was released in america. Not sure.

Now relapse came out and I only liked We made you, Deja Vu, Beautiful, Crack a Bottle, and Underground.

So if you are a diehard eminem fan and will like ANYTHING he puts out, then get it. If you like his older shit and missed all of his serious songs, then just download Deja Vu, Beautiful, and Underground.

Sounds like there are other contributing factors involved. Why not blame the alcohol? I find it funny that you say you're losing your friend to pot when he is drinking as well. Ive lost a lot of friends. Not to pot, but to alcohol. After they started to drink a lot they started to do coke. Then they just became assholes. So don't just point the finger at pot and say that is the sole reason you lost your friend. Consider all the contributing factors.

No it cannot get you high just because of your next door neighbor. But if the quantity of marijuana smoke is high in a lot of places, then it is possible for it to happen. I hope you don't deny that it is a possibility. Because a lot of things are possible in this world when a lot of people said it was impossible. It all matters on the radius to though.

One of the irritations about it is the legalizing topic about it. Because im afraid that if it was legalized. It would be smoked so much outside, and around kids that maybe our children would get high and it could get so bad to where no matter where you go, you might get a contact high. And that's basically forcing others to be high when they don't wanna be. but if it ever did get legalized, I hope our government will be smart enough to make it work out for the best and not mess up our community.

We actually want our children to get an education and idk if them having a contact high could ruin that.

So with this I'm getting... anywhere between 10-60 FPS with Counter Strike: Source. That's not bad, right? Well, I've also got Portal and Left 4 Dead. And I'm getting creamed here. I can play Portal as long as there's no water, and nothing else in the background running (psh. Yeah right. I've almost always got something running, usually an MSN call). And Left 4 Dead I can play as long as I don't shoot, move too fast, and there's not too many zombies. So yeah. (I've actually got... decent at Left 4 Dead... but I don't expect to get good until I upgrade). So what do you guys think I should do? Scrap this PC, and save up for a good one, or what? I'm already saving up for a graphics card from Newegg, but I may also need a new processor, and stuff like that. Dunno if that'd be more expensive or cheaper, or what. I need your guys' opinions. And yes. I know. My computer is crap. ;;.... XD

Never scrap a computer that is actually customizable. The older types of PC's might be incapable of upgrades but new ones now a days just takes a few items which will be less than a new PC to actually be up-to-date.

Suggestion:

Upgrade ram to 4gb. When ordering online, please make sure you know your motherboard specs. Sometimes the wrong memory can mess up your motherboard. Try to keep it the same brand as well. All ram are different most of the time. Get Dual Channel if your MB (motherboard) supports it.

Buy a GeForce graphics card. Do not use an ATI if you have a GeForce Chipset. It can cause issues. I have a ATI chipset and I tried using my GeForce and it would always shutdown when playing games.

When buying these items. Keep in mind your Power Supply wattage. I use 500w.

BUT LIKE PREVIOUSLY STATED! MAKE SURE YOU KEEP TRACK OF THE MOTHERBOARD SPECIFICATIONS! That does count when buying other parts.

Also, PCI is a thing of the past when it comes to graphics cards, so if you dont have a PCI-E slot, then maybe you might just wanna buy a new PC then upgrade from there.

And I believe i get 30-60FPS when playing CSS. And the only thing i modified on my PC was adding a ram fan and a new power supply. Im going to add a new graphics so I can actually play newer games lol. My integrated Graphics is 256mb and thats actually funny lol.

Which can happen and does truly suck, I might not consider pot to be a full fledged stepping stone drug, but usually those that deal in pot get their hands sticky else where if times are rough and one thing leads to another sometimes.

EDIT: And squirrlebait, I agree with you in that people that abuse substances make it hard for me to be neutral about them using it. Such as alcohol and cigs, neither are horrible unless abused and it would seem that making it all illegal might help fix it, but who can really say? I take prescription drugs. To calm my nerves. Its called Valium lol. And yes I know weed calms ones nerves, but now a days its just abused.
