Guest starscream Posted August 15, 2008 High speed single mode fiber optic lines are used for backbone and datacenter pipelines .There are theoretical OC lines that could eventually reach around 150Gbpshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OC-192. I remember hearing about that lady in sweden, i dont remember what the details were but she does have an OC line running into her home. I heard she doesnt even use it too, just goes on Yahoo and reads the news and shit.

Guest Phoenix2 Posted August 15, 2008 Ya large datacenters usually have 10 Gbit uplinks to Tier 1 providers. I believe ThePlanet.com has the largest network in the US with over 150 GBit/sec of connectivity to backbone providers like Level 3, AT&T, and Time Warner. Keep in mind its not like a single cable into your house. It's thousands of miles of cables and fiber optics, to and from thousands of routers, switches and servers.Take a look: http://www.theplanet.com/why-the-planet/tour/
mental808 0 Posted August 15, 2008 all this shit is backbone structure that affects us eventually. Regardless the reason it takes so long to reach us . . . is a complete reconstruction of the nation's infrastructure takes time and money . . . money we'd have to borrow from other countries
