My new emergency build

Recommended Posts

had a pc start having random full system freezes.. presumably due to the disk which is the original intel 74G ssd from early 2009.

Here is what i threw together and some notes i made along the way.

I have another set of the memory and nvme disk coming. I plan to see how the nvme performs in raid0, otherwise ill put it in my work laptop and make my boss pay for it :)

things to note, AHCI for max speed on the disk, use the XMP profiles on the memory. This will adjust your bclk and OC your cpu.. i'm currently running the 3.5GHz proc at 4.2GHz and the ram at 3000 with cas 16. I was able to push the ram to 3200 by upping the voltage to 1.37 and got around 4.4Ghz stable. figured 4.2 was enough. proc topped out during gaming at about 100F, haven't seen it exceed this yet.

I ran some disk speed tests because this baby is 4x faster than a regular SSD.. Initially i let it run with the Microsoft driver and achieved this.

I then swapped to the samsung driver and achieved this

as you can see, the samsung driver was significantly faster

I havent played with much else.. the system is pretty average aside from the disk.
