I'm about to do a recovery

Recommended Posts

I wanted to ask the communitiy if they got any or know any programs that backup well so i don't have to reinstall steam and spend hours changing all my files and shit, and I don't want to do a system image. The reason behind this is because I cannot play any videos on chrome, firefox , IE, or netflix. I cannot play any gifs, and HTML 5 on youtube and other applications don't work. All my plugins for every browser seem to crash at the sight of a video loading. I said fuck it, let's start fresh.

Josh, WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU MAN?

When did this start. That doesn't sound like something you need to reformat for.

This started on wednesday and for some weird reason every time I want to use netflix, youtube, or open a gif, it tells me either shockwave flash player may be busy or silverlight plugin may be busy. I did a system restore and restored it to this monday but it still keeps happening on all my browsers. I ran all browsers in safe mode so that no extensions or plugins were running and even that didn't work. I tried incognito mode as well so that no plugins were loaded. I reinstalled silverlight and all adobe products to see if that did anything, but nothing. At this point I am frustrated. I am completely confused on what it could possibly be, it's probably the first issue I've had with a computer that I couldn't fix.

clean install. microsoft account saves backgrounds  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o

if u have 2nd hdd, just back up whole thing. storage is so cheap now.

Yea I got a 2 terabyte hard drive I plan to back it up on if I can't fix this problem.

I'm going to assume you've tried reinstalling your browsers and you've checked to see if there's any malicious addons or plugins installed. I'd try running some scans for malware before doing a fresh install.

Make sure you don't install the active scanner for Malwarebytes as you probably don't need it, also don't activate the free trial.

Ok, now I am officially spooked. I get computers, I program, I understand how computers do things and when they do it, but can someone please explain to me how I woke up and now all of a sudden everything fucking works again. Is this some sort of thanksgiving gift? I checked my computer for any updates it ran overnight or any changes it made and nothing. I was about to follow mimics suggestion this morning and then bam, videos and netflix and gifs start working again.
