Improvements?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if it is necessary for me to improve my PC. Right now in my PC I have:

Asus M5A97 Motherboard

1GB AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series Graphics Card

AMD FX-6100 Six-Core Processor 3.3 GHz

8 Gigs of Ram

64-bit Operating System

And if it matters:

Logitech 6700s Mouse

Steel Series Siberia V2 Heat Orange Headset

Standard Dell Keyboard

It's not about the PC, it's what you want from the PC.

Playing Skyrim on max settings? Maybe not.

Watching internet porn? Absolutely.

Honestly we can't magically enter your brain and know how it's holding up right now. Do you want more FPS in games? Do you want a faster memory? Do you want another monitor?

Without more info, I can really tell you nothing that will be in your interests.

basically I want another monitor because i already have two and three would be perfect. I don't know if my current graphics card can handle it. Also i would like to know if an AMD Octa-Core Processor would be better then and Intel i7 for my gaming performance.

If you plan on changing your keyboard, get a mechanical one.

Even though you can get some dirt inside it with time, they last longer and it's not that hard to remove the dirt.

Better graphics card, I see no reason to owning 3 monitors but whatever, and you're basically set past that.

Having multiple monitors is the shit bro.

. Coming from someone with an 8350 Overclocked to 4.9Ghz. I'm switching to an i7 in about 6 days. Also if it's just gaming the i7 4770k only gives like a 1% increase in preformance compared to the 4670k. NOW if you're streaming or video rendering then 4770k all the way.

Questions:

How many sticks of RAM? and are they single or dual channel?

What's is this rig's primary purpose?

Do you have a rough budget or is money no object here?

Also if you decide to go 3 monitors, a second card actually wouldn't fix anything you would still only have 1Gb of video memory which isn't enough for 3 monitors. If you're only going to be gaming on 1 monitor then you could get away with a 2Gb card, but if you're gunna be gaming on all 3 then you'll need something like a r9 290 or a 780 (but those are hella expensive and idk your budget soo.) to push triple 1080p.

Your CPU Score:5,424

A FX-8350 8-core Score: 8100

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-8350+Eight-Core&id=1780

A Intel core I7-4770k 4-core 8-logical cores(requires a new motherboard) Score: 10374

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-4770K+%40+3.50GHz&id=1919

A Intel I5-4670k (requires a new motherboard) Score: 7799

Comparison

Even the i5 is close to the AMD octa core and the i7 is way ahead of them but The thing is your motherboard uses the AM3+ socket which is the same socket the FX-8350 uses. It'd be cheaper to just stick with AMD. But if you really want the extra kick I'd go with the i7. But gaming is really GPU bottled necked unless you're CSGO which is very CPU reliant.

P.S. I see you live in NJ if you're near Paterson Micro-Center has great deals and .3 percent sales tax.
