Blade Master Mirror Image / Respawning Complaints

The idea of respawning coupled with a knife race seems like an ok idea at first... The default respawn shoves you back where you died, basically right away. This leads to people camping your corpse and getting an easy kill, espeically since you have no evasion, abilities are on cooldown, and your ultimate is on cooldown. The best you can do as a blade master after respawning is hold down the left click and hope the enemy was reloading after he killed you.

 

This is with the thought that you will only respawn once and in the default location, over your own corpse...

 

Respawning is very buggy though and to top it off mirror image is as well.

 

-Mirror image will respawn you even when you didn't die (because of the ultimate's damage reduction). This causes you to warp around oddly. Rarely this will happen multiple times because..

-Mirror image can occur multiple times. This can occur to such a degree that !respawn_spawn seems to be completely ignored and you are spawned on top of your corpse.

 

Some possible fixes:

 

The easiest would probably just to be change the skill. Based off of the "suggestion guidline" thread, "Smoke and Mirrors: 15/30/45/60/75/90% chance of a smoke cloud appearing when you take damage." Just a wild idea.

 

Fix respawning so that it is always set to respawn you at spawn. Perhaps there could be some special cases (like some kind of warrior class that after death transformed into a zombie), but the main idea is that it would be consistant and reliable.

 

Have respawning be only once per round. Skills would trump scrolls of respawning, if you have bought a scroll of respawning and a teammate respawned you then you keep your scroll of respawning (to be used on the next round). You could just be refunded the money spent on the scroll or perhaps the scroll of respawning could trump skill based respawning (the benefit would be the scroll lets you use your ultimate and abilities immediately instead of the normal "you just spawned" cooldown that they have).

 

Regardless of the blade master class, respawning needs a few tweaks. !respawn_spawn helps, but it is not exactly a good "fix" when you have to type it every map and even then it doesn't work all the time.

When you respawn as blademaster you are given 5 seconds before the respawn and you respawn 95% invisible for 2 seconds, so nobody should be able to see you... unless its the case that you are attacking when you respawn (holding down left click) because when you do that your invisibility goes away.

 

Either way the mirror image skill is just a temporary anyways until I figure out a cool way to do mirror image.

When you respawn as blademaster you are given 5 seconds before the respawn and you respawn 95% invisible for 2 seconds, so nobody should be able to see you... unless its the case that you are attacking when you respawn (holding down left click) because when you do that your invisibility goes away.

If the respawn is like most enemies and team mates alike will see floating grenades / weapons / whatever right before the person respawns. I didn't know of the !respawn_none command before (going to be using it a lot now), but corpse camping regardless of class is common. Sometimes it just happens that the enemy is still within sight of your corpse 5 seconds later... It is good though that there is an option to respawn at your spawn (though even then bad luck or campers can make even that a bad descision, crackhouse as terrorist for example).
